We have some FReepers who fully supported this lockdown and would be all in with a second shutdown.

I have been disappointed in the number of Karens here at FR. Disappointed, but not surprised. It has been obvious that even FR contains a lot of Karens who have no desire for freedom or self-reliance for quite some time.

Everything you said is true. They believe that if they just do what the bully says that everything will go back to normal like it was in early January. They can't deal with the fact that their normal is gone.

Once government takes away freedoms they never give them back. The patriot act was the worst freedom taking act ever. The patriot act was also (and I know you know this) had already been written before 911 ever happened.

Do not forget that most of our compliance was mandatory.
There are now all manner of laws, real laws that we have to take precautions, or at least look like we’re taking them.
I doubt if most those businesses want to remain closed.

A new set of laws will be needed to cancel out some of those uncompromising, unrealistic rules.
