A White history professor at George Washington University on Thursday admitted to falsely claiming a Black identity. Jessica A. Krug said in a Medium post that she is actually White and Jewish, but that she has "built her life on a violent anti-Black lie."
Krug wrote that, throughout her adult life, she claimed to have North African, African American and Caribbean heritage. She called her actions the "very epitome of violence, of thievery and appropriation, of the myriad ways in which non-Black people continue to use and abuse Black identities and cultures."
"For the better part of my adult life, every move I've made, every relationship I've formed, has been rooted in the napalm toxic soil of lies," wrote Krug, who is originally from the suburbs of Kansas City.
According to her university bio, Krug is an expert in Africa, Latin America, African American history, early modern world history, imperialism and colonialism. Her courses include, "Caribbean on the Move: The Politics of Immigration and Popular Dance in the Caribbean and Its Diasporas" and "Africa and the African Diaspora: (Trans)Nationalisms and the Politics of Modernity."
She is a finalist for both the Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass book prizes.

Uhhhhhh, what gave her away?
We’re dealing with a secular religious cult, and the university is its worship center.
She looks a bit dark-skinned. What is the melanin cut-off to determine blackness? And what about all those dark Indians? And do we lose white privilege when we get a deep tan?
How about we all start checking the “b” box on forms when we get to the race question? That should create some fun.
Yeah, well, EVERY Liberal could write that.
People saw that she had a small butt?
This is a class??
You can build an entire semester on this????
Oooooooo. That's raciss... but, hypothetically, very funny.
Hey, during the summer back in the day I was tanner than some of the black girls I worked with. We used to joke about who had the darker tan!
So she’s packing it in, resigning from her professorship, and will never be heard from as a credible voice, again... right?
c’mon man!
This outright lie has been very advantageous for her career, just as Liz Warren falsely claiming to be of Indian background got her job at Harvard Law.
Very pathetic
Might be a seasonal thing, from Memorial day until Thanksgiving tans qualify one as POC, so fill out government forms during this period to maximize benefits. If questioned, pull out your bottle of hot sauce.
In winter southerners needn't worry. Northerners losing their tans need to pull out the Elisabeth Warren genetic card to pass. Odds are that it's highly unlikely that you have fewer 'Native American' genes tha Princess Liawatha. Should be good for acceptance to Yale or Harvard Law schools.
Just wave your Big Lies Matter placard. Hell, it worked for Hitler and Hillary.
You say very pathetic (I agree from the standpoint of common sense) but she got a lot of traction out of this lie. And like Lizzie Warren, she probably won’t suffer much for such a life of deceit.
Is that like countering ALL the white privilege going on?
She wanted to show just how damaging “white privilege” can be because she could easily pass herself off as black, take a position that she would not normally qualify for, and she probably won’t suffer many consequences. This is at a school named after George Washington, where there is an active movement to change its name and where they already dumped the “Colonials’ as their team name.
1. Why should anyone believe her when she says this, given that she lied about so much else?
2. "Identifying" as a race/ethnicity not your own is really a "common response" to childhood trauma?
Shaun “Talcum X” King is STILL lying about being black.
