Cash? That’s weird. I did buy a car with cash once. The seller and I drove to the bank and the cash traded hands in the bank lobby after I pulled it out of my account right there. That was in 1981.
Otherwise I used a check when buying used cars. I would never show up to someone’s (who I’ve never met) home with a wad of cash. It could be a robbery.
my dad took a check when he sold our car, the bank said the check had been canceled, when dad called the guy he said his son wrecked the car and dad could come get it, it was totalled.
Cash used to be a bargaining tool.
KYREE is a fine name for that young man, in prison!
I cant imagine any private seller accepting a check instead of cash. All of our vehicles are old and weve paid cash to the owner.
That said, he robbed them of $3000. I have to assume they thought theyd found the deal of a lifetime to get a 2017 for only $3000. Honest people dont always think cynically.
We were looking for a used golf cart for my parents to use at their seasonal campground. My mom found one on Craigslist that was only $1999-it was a pic of one that was obviously worth at least $10,000. Far too good to be true. She was thoroughly annoyed at my naysaying. I kept warning her that it was not legit. She was so excited that she dismissed every red flag I pointed out about the posting. After a few back and forths with the seller she had to concede that it wasnt a legitimate post. Her joy at finding such an amazing deal blinded her to the obvious and I was worried about what might happen to her if she took off to a neighboring state with $2000 cash in hand.
