Read a little deeper. While there were portions of the American people who were pro-germany in the 1930 they were at best the second largest of the anti-war groups and probably not much larger than the third largest contingent, the communists. The Communists went from anti-war to pro war with Germany overnight after Germany invaded the Soviet Union. The largest of the Anti-war groups by a large margin was the America First contingent, these were the groups that only supported the war after Pearl Harbor happened.
Roosevelt did not have the support of the American people or Congress to get involved. He had problems with just sending supplies to Britain.
I suggest looking at the positions of Wendell Wilkie and the Republican Party during the election campaign of 1940. Republicans were actually in support of the aid to GB in that election campaign. The Republicans at this time actually supported the idea of resettling the hundreds of thousands of Jewish refugees that Germany was creating in the US. Thus while it is quite possible that a Republican victory in 1940 would have changed a lot in the course of the war, the US would still have fought. (I can just imagine recruiter trying to figure out how to say thanks but no thanks to Jewish refugee who shows up asking to enlist in his highly decorated uniform from the Austro-Hungarian army.)

Germany and Italy were under no obligation to declare war on the US but they foolishly took the bait. The minute the US entered the war their fate was sealed.
If Japan was smart they would have only attacked British and French interests in Asia and not the US. But then they weren’t very smart.

I think the Democrats have always known that. I believe their strategy is to lay low as long as possible and then to do a blitz with Biden in October. The shorter the blitz is the less chance of a major mistake. In the meantime they count on Trump saying things that annoy people, the Senate to refuse to pass any legislation from the House, and for Covid and unemployment to get worse.

Jeeze, read up a bit on the mood of the country just before WW2. FDR was a racist asshole, but he knew that hiding our heads in the sand meant CERTAIN DEFEAT, whereas the America First Republicans were either clueless, or controlled by Hitler.
The average Japanese today are more akin to us then their nationalistic ancestors of just 50 years ago. They still have a very structured society, of course. But, many of the former trappings of nationalism that hung around after the war are gone or no longer of interest. When I arrived in Japan in the seventies, martial arts schools of all types were popular. The training was hard and the discipline taught was very militaristic. Samurai or Yakuza movies were popular. The lone warrior fighting injustice and dying for what was right. Yakuza popularized as epitome of the Nationalistic ideal. They were not liked but feared. Now the Yakuza are seen for what they always were, criminals to be despised This was because the generation that was running the country and the Yakuza had been born and raised on nationalism prior to WWII. On a recent visit, the change was very noticeable. The WWII generation is disappearing and are far less influential. The younger generations moved on from the nationalism. They accept foreigners to live in Japan now and have cracked down on organized crime. Although it seems the Triads are moving in. The nationalism, it is still there below the surface, but then that is true about us as well.

Johnson was truly one if the worst Presidents ever...though Carter eclipsed him, and Obama has no competition at all.
A Pearl Harbor had to happen to get us into the war. It wasn’t an FDR thing. Most Americans couldn’t care less about the fate of Europe at that time. We were basically an isolationist country. Not that that was an all bad thing.
