As always, follow the money!
Forgive my insensitivity, but what happened Thursday night at Citi Field was easier done than said because it was a matter of money. In this case, not much of it was at stake.
And every person at or near the top of sports who publicly declares his or her support for Thursday’s Marlins-Mets race-based boycott is full of it. Whatever the issue or cause, it’s a lot easier to be righteous when there are no paying customers to send home. Timing was everything.
This season, with no tickets, tack-on fees, parking, hideously marked-up eats and drinks to sell, Thursday there was no one to rip off except cable and satellite TV subscribers, who have been conditioned to bait-and-switch abuses.
For better, worse and all that lies between, here’s the problem:
Fans don’t care nearly as much as they did. They’ve learned to live without sports, especially in their current diminished condition. They’ve learned that they’re taken for granted. And more and more they’ve determined that they won’t pay another dime to attend games or to watch them on TV.
Thursday’s game-time walkout in protest of police brutality may have been a sincere group action or largely based in peer pressure, but judging from the response of readers, none much cared. None were outraged or even disappointed that there wasn’t going to be a game to watch.
Baseball, regardless of social conditions, has become a take-it or leave-it proposition, and it seems clear that increasing numbers are resolved, if not tacitly urged, to leave it.

Even thought I’ll be boycotting it would be great to see a boycott the first month on baseball fan movement next year.
I keep saying it’s a great opportunity for an entrepreneur to start a Patriot League.
Boycott equals contract cancellation. Either stand for the flag or stay in your locker room. No political slogans on the field. Etc.
I am telling you there is money to be made!
With no fans in the seats,all the people who work the games are taking it in the shorts, owners will soon be taking it in the shorts, the players meh
Maybe they expect that they’re going to gain new fans support from all the rioters?
Next year assuming that they can sell tickets again to a live fan base, maybe all these rioting mobs will head on over to their nearest Ballpark and go watch the game.
No pro sports?
The bookies will starve!
And what about the ticket scalpers?

For myself ,all those overpaid pontificating jocks can go bag groceries or wash cars.
Pro sports is dead Dil.
It amazes me the shortsightedness of Pro Sports. At a time when they are trying to bring back fans who were quickly adjusting to life without them they pull this BS. Even Baseball and the NHL are intimidated. The stupidity of it is breathtaking.

I doubt owners agree with all of this. They’re terrified of being “cancelled”.
Granted, if people are stupid enough to pay 50 dollars for a ticket to a game, they SHOULD be treated as a cardboard cutout. But still.

I think the gig is up. Or at least for a couple of years. Too bad for Oakland A's who need a new stadium. Or the Washington Football Team.

pro sports money comes from tv contracts. once we stop watching them on tv, hopefully they will dry up.
Probably....Im thinking a new sport could develop...Kinda like horse racing but pulling a plow.....it would be “green” and actually PRODUCTIVE....... farmers could rent out their fields to different teams....The teams names wouldn't offend anyone...Donkeys VS Mules...Steers VS. Bulls etc....they could kneel anytime to get their 2nd wind...so many ways to make it .competitive and productive at the same time!!
