Looked to me like he had a knife in his left hand that he was displaying to Kyle to distract him from his right hand with the gun that he was going to shoot him in the head with.

Kyle was not distracted and when he shot the gun arm the hand on the other arm dropped the knife. Since there were no longer signals going from his brain to his right hand his right hand didn’t get the signal to drop the gun.

There are numerous stills that clearly show it was a gun not a knife

I think what you saw in his left hand was more likely his cellphone. The video you posted in post 31 shows what I believe to be his live-streaming cell phone dropped an sliding on the road. I believe you can actually distinctly hear the sound of that sliding on the livestream before he begins to scream for a REAL medic.

It was a cell phone that dropped but I think Gaige might have been trying to use it as a distractor. The moves of that kid as he sat on the pavement...shifting this way and that....wow! Many an army drill instructor are going to be tsk tsking over the notion that that kid is now lost as a potential recruit.
