During another part of the podcast, Obama recounted how she, daughters Sasha and Malia, and friend Denielle Pemberton-Heard went for ice cream. We had just finished taking the girls to a soccer game. We were stopping to get ice cream and I had told the Secret Service to stand back, because we were trying to be normal, trying to go in, Obama recalled. There was a line, and
when Im just a black woman, I notice that white people dont even see me. Theyre not even looking at me.

I will give you a true story set in the mid 1980s. My wife and I went away for a long weekend with other friends. We did not know but a very famous TV star in a major TV show on the air at the time showed up for the weekend. He was friends with our friends. It was time to shop for food so my wife made a list and was going to the grocery store. The star said Ill drive you and off they went to the store. Walking around the store no one noticed him. Standing in line to pay, he noticed he was on the cover of National Enquirer, so he picks it up and pretend to read with both the cover and his face next to one another. Still no one noticed. My wife still laughs at the episode when the story is told. Some people cannot believe the very famous TV star was ignored in the store.
So Mrs. Obama is misreading the situation. Others in line were not expecting to see her and if it was her where were the Security?
Goonie Goo Goo
I think you have said it best.
People treat others largely as they are treated.
Michelle is NOT Melania and a person could tell that without even seeing them.
Despite the rehetoric that sells, America is a land of NON-racism. I don’t think that its level of racial acceptance is seen anywhere else in the world.
If Michelle were the kind of person, inside, that Melania appears to be, she would be treated similarly by people of all races in America.
Most Americans care about others. Michelle does not. People can tell, and don’t want to associate with her.
People avoid looking at her resting “bitch face”.
because we were trying to be normal, trying to go in, Obama recalled.
Ok, lets think this through. She wants to be normal, not go in with SS, just be a regular person........it worked, no one noticed her. Pretty much like it is for most of us every day, black or white. So she passed her own test and instead of smiling she is using it as racism. Just cant win with this woman.
She should have hit up the Pelosi ice cream stash.
We don’t like her, we never had a man as first woman
Her statement just oozes 'victimhood'. Hey, chip on shoulder person...part of being normal is not being readily noticeable. Normal people go about their everyday business without being the center of attention. This is just another bleat to be noticed.A previous shopping trip at Target years ago comes to mind. She was requested to pick up an item off a top shelf. Her reaction then, being black means having to work for others. A normal person would immediately reason yes I'm 6 ft tall, have long legs, long arms..."yes be glad to help". But she just twisted it into another victimhood reaction.
Great observation. That’s the whole Left. It’s all about them. The LBGTQ, feminists, the Black Activists. It’s like they all need that constant JRHS girl validation. I’m not sure I’ve ever noticed if anyone around me is noticing me. And honestly I don’t care. This woman needs to get over herself. She listed as one of the most admired women in the world for some reason, and it’s not enough, because someone didn’t give her enough public adoration. She even said she told the SS to stay back so they could blend in, then when she does, she pissed.
BS. Maybe they were scared by the giant chip on your shoulder, Mike.
Still oppressed, many years and millions of dollars later.
Most PEOPLE dont see me no matter their color.
Gee, talk about self centered, who was on the cover of every hag mag in the country for eight years?......................
All this for a f**kin flag ?
Whenever we have encountered a celebrity, we figure they enjoy going out and being treated as just normal people without all the fawning and gushing over them. We ignore them SPECIFICALLY so they can have some semblance a normal life.
I dont see her. Does anyone have a problem with that? 😁🤗😊👎
I read her Princeton thesis — and the nuns would have beaten me with a ruler if I had turned in something like that in 5th grade.
Had enough of Moochelle.
So they were trying to “fit in” like plain, normal people and then she got all offended that no one looked at her — and that was due to their racism or something.
Black people aren’t born with these chips on their shoulders. It’s ingrained in them from the cradle on.
Forgive me if I don’t aid and abet their inferiority complex.
