Reagan Battalion @ReaganBattalion President Reagans message to a media who protected and defended rioters in 1969.
His message is more pertinent today than ever, as the state of our national media has only grown more rotten, biased, and disconnected over the years.
The kicker comes at the end.

He was truly amazing.
Now I get very sad when I see the great one’s name. Not all the time but sometimes. I love Donald Trump especially since he is actually a New Yorker who can make me proud. But Ronald Reagan was something else.
actually he and Trump have different styles but the same agenda. Saving America. Defeating its enemies. And making patriotism a good thing again to be proud of.
16 years of them back-to-back would have made this country phenomenal
then of course there’s the fact that I was 12 and had my whole life ahead of me which is why I may get a tear in my eye reading about him :-)
but some of my nephews and nieces and now my grandnephew have their whole lives ahead of them and I want Trump to prepare a great one for them
Around the same time, a commie yelled at RR, “We are the future!” His response: “I’ll sell my bonds!”
When Trump was elected in 2016 I told my kids, hope he gets a second term and enjoy the peace, prosperity and patriotism these eight years, soak them in and remember then fondly. I got the pleasure of voting for Reagan once and thoroughly enjoying his entire presidency, it was a great time to be alive!
I lived through that time in California. The news media hated Reagan more than they hate Trump today. The cartoonist, Conrad, with the Los Angeles Times was especially vicious. Hang in there President Trump!
We enjoyed Reagan but the Republican Party fought him tooth and nail the entire time.
Wasn’t it though? :-) everybody was so proud to be an American. Well not everybody but most.
And I don’t mean this to come out the wrong way but it wasn’t a criminal offense to have just a certain race or ethnicity in a movie or sitcom and without a gay couple or a transexual in it.
And I think there are a number of very good Black and Hispanic actors, I just don’t like the idea that they have to be in every show now.
But I am going off track. Time for a nap :-)
I guess it is ironic that there are more black performers defending our point of view with then why performers lately. Denzel Washington and Kanye West and that wacky comedian come to mine
I miss the Gipper.
I know Trump gotta be Trump. But sometimes I wish Trump had a bit more of Reagan in him. Reagan had the ability to make even his opponents like him. For example, heres a clip from the Reagan - Mondale debate. Its the one where a moderator asks Reagan about his age. Reagans clever answer even made Mondale smile.
Peoples Park riots , Berkeley , spring 1969.I was there . As a young hippy , newly arrived in town , I witnessed the first week , before I got the hell out of there . I has the sense to stay out I’d the street and just watch out the windows. .Choppers liw overhead , APCs in the intersections, concertina wire , NG with M-1s and fixed bayonets . Very impressive . I sure got the message : Don’t even think about it.... I also remember hearing that those arrested ( mass arrests) were held in a big stadium in Alameda and not released quickly at all. These days , ALL OF THIS could be a formula for similar anti-riot suppression and sucess.

Yep, I remember that. And with that little clever quip, Reagan took the age issue off the table and went on to win 49 states.

My first vote for President was for Reagan. I can’t tell you how enjoyable it was to see the long faces at my school when he beat Carter - and I had the biggest schiff-eating grin on my face for a week. Everyone that I knew, knew why. It was a great time to be alive...and now is not much different. After Trump wins big in November, things are going to get cleaned up but good, and many people will once again be proud to be Americans.
I like your optimistic post.
I live on Staten Island and the first time I found out what a liberal was, was when I worked at Friendly’s at 16.
Some fruity kid made a comment about how Reagan will starve the poor.
I was so naive and Staten Island so conservative that I didn’t know such people existed until then lol
Same Republican Party that exists now. They are as bad as the democrats. Cowards politically, liars and con artist. I hope Trump has a major influence in the 2024 candidate because if the GOP has their way we will go right back to the Bush/McRomney scum that stands for nothing and will sell you out, tell you it’s your fault and question your loyalty at the drop of the hate but you may never question theirs. There are a few FReepers here like that, the Party is their god and you will not defy the almighty Party by God!
I was so fortunate to grow up as a young teenager during the 80’s under Reagan. We had the best president - the best music - the best clothes - and the best nation. I miss President Reagan - and I miss the 80’s.
But — we have to stand and fight for what he carved out for us... we gotta move forward - and we will as 1 nation, under GOD !
