It was a blocked field goal kick in SuperBowl VI (!). He talked about it in every talk he gave.
Yepremian got to the ball first, but instead of falling/downing the ball and keep the Dolphins’ 14-0 lead, he picked it up tried to throw a pass, legal from where the ball was in backfield. Ball slipped and went up in the air, and he batted at it— it went right into the hands of Detroit Lions player who ran it for a touchdown. Dolphins still won- but it was 14-7. Great guy, emotional player.
Met him at a fundraiser for Nick Buoniconti’s son Marc (who was rendered a quadraplegic for life from a tackle he made while playing a Citadel football college game. Buoniconti and Yepramian’s foundation helped closed head injuries— paralyzing injured players of many sports.
