Hurricane Laura emerged from the Caribbean Sea, leaving behind flooding and fatalities in Hispaniola and Cuba. Former Hurricane Marco dissipated Tuesday morning, a few hours before Laura strengthened to a hurricane.

It will be interesting to see before and after satellite photos of these areas. You could really see the difference in Mexico Beach and surrounding areas after Michael, because you saw all the homes that were completely gone.
There is a common theme for the intact structuresmetal roof.
Thanks for the links! Amazing videos.
NautiNurse,
Thank you for yet another informative and comprehensive hurricane thread. You are truly a national asset.
Thank you for your kind feedback. Much appreciated!
Both those video clips are awful.
That’s what I thought.
Hurricane Laura: Before and after images show devastation from one of strongest storms to hit US
We just got power back. Went out about 7:30 AM Thurs. Quite uncomfortable couple of days with heat and humidity. Thankfully no damage, save yard a big fat mess. Trees down on houses here and there. Estimated wind gusts 70 MPH or thereabouts. Pretty windy for this far inland, about 150-175 miles.
Great to hear your electricity and a/c are back in working order, and damage limited to yard salad. Dang, it is miserable cleaning up the yard without a cool house to provide relief. Thanks for your update! Been thinking about you.
I have the faintest memories of Audrey in 1957 when I was 7. Followed a similar track through North LA and I can recall the wind and rain. Don’t think we lost power then. But the old frame house I grew up in didn’t have AC, so it wasn’t a big deal.
Looks like TD 19 going to be a storm in the gulf this coming week.
