Eighty-five days later, Portland's daily criminality has become dangerously normal
Washington Examiner ^ | August 21, 2020 | Jeremy Beaman

Chris Davis, deputy police chief of the Portland Police Bureau, said in a July 8 press conference, “This was a more violent episode of civil unrest than we had — than I have ever seen in my entire career at Portland Police Bureau.”

He was referring to events on the night of May 29. Imagine what he must be saying now.

In Portland, Oregon, the three-month mark of continuing criminality approaches. The chaos in that city has been occurring nightly since May 29, when the Multnomah County Justice Center was set on fire, and criminals began their monthslong assault on police officers and their city. Similar activity has continued this week.

On Monday, groups marched, blocked traffic, and shined lasers at officers. As they marched, they shouted, "What do we want? Justice! When do we want it? Now! If we don't get it? Burn it down!"

On Tuesday, they came back and set dumpster fires, broke windows at the Multnomah County building, and then set it on fire. They have continued to throw rocks, glass bottles, and paint balloons at police officers.

On Wednesday and Thursday, groups gathered outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement building and began vandalizing it and shining lasers at the federal officers. The officers exited the building and began to disperse the crowds, along with Portland police.

On Friday, several federal buildings in Portland were closed after authorities received a threat that a vehicle filled with explosives would target a federal building.

It is unconscionable that this violence and destruction has continued for 85 days. Public officials, including Oregon Gov. Kate Brown and Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, have basically aided and abetted the violence for months because it has been happening in such close proximity (physically and ideologically) to protests against police brutality, which they support.

It’s the “New Normal”.

Thanks Jim. What is going on in our cities needs to be treated as the rebellion it is. The key question is what is stopping our government from dealing with it?

A lot of "our government" is made up of closet insurrectionists for whom this is a lifelong dream come true.

True, but these states/cities have been heavily liberal for a long time. And consider too that lots of conservatives and sensible people will simply leave these hell holes making them even bluer.

Yep, liberal elitists who all along craved power and control over people. I worked around lots of libs; they have a deeply embedded sense of moral and intellectual superiority and feel entitled to run everything.

There is no reasoning with people like that. You simply have to fight them.

"It's the new normal"

Nope. It's THIS:

WHEREAS the laws of the United States have been, for some time past, and now are opposed, and the execution thereof obstructed, in the States of Washington, Oregon, and California, by combinations too powerful to be suppressed by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings, or by the powers vested in the marshals by law.

Now, therefore, I, DONALD JOHN TRUMP, President of the United States, in virtue of the power in me vested by the Constitution and the laws, have thought fit to call forth, and hereby do call forth, the militia of the several States of the Union, to the aggregate number of seventy-five thousand, in order to suppress said combinations, and to cause the laws to be duly executed.

The details for this object will be immediately communicated to the State authorities through the Defense Department.

"A lot do."

Apparently true.

It's probably best to just stop policing AA 'hoods for a while. Let them become no-go self-utopian zones.

Finally the voters are getting what they voted for over the years. The chickens are finally coming home to roost. They elect Democrat after Democrat until finally God says,"If that is what you want, I will see that you get it.Enjoy" They get it , then they turn on the waterworks. They sound like a bunch of tom cat during mating season.

It will be like it is in WI x a thousand if the Democrats are allowed to steal this election. And they have better than a 50-50 chance to do so. Why? Because the Never Trump Republicans want him out of the White House, the Old Guard Republicans want him out, the Globalists Republicans want him out, the alphabet news agencies want him out, the parasite class in America want him out, the acedamemic class want him out, the murderers [abortionists] want him out. When he is dead, they will celebrate. Why do they want him out? Each group mentioned has its own reasons. The simplify just say that evil hates good. Only his supporters want him to remain.

Voters need to ask if they want their towns to become Portland, Seattle, New York City, or Chicago.

Republicans need to ask voters that question and offer the alternative.

Will they? Probably not.

I would say that.Thorough out history people have generally policed themselves. Those who wished to live like civilized people did so. Those who wished to live as animals did so.

That defend the Police is a bunch of crap. There will always be police. Germany had the Gestapo, The Soviet Union had the NKVD. Japan had the Kemp ti. Every Nation has its version of the police. We have the FBI. The Court system is something we will always have also.

The cops should start using the same tactics the mop uses.. Lasers in the eyes, rock to the head, etc... Start sending some of them to the hospital and maybe things will improve... I mean, just whining about it hasn't worked out very well for'um...

Rock salt rounds, no choke. Wing as as many of them as you can, you bet they'll stop all this within a night or two.
