You say they are “intelligent people” but they are not smart people (there is a difference).

Smart people don’t vote against their own best interests or those of their own nation. Trumps policy successes have had a real and measurable effect on the everyday lives of these people while his tweets have had none.

You need to have a talk with your “intelligent” friends and tell them to be smarter.

I doubt if being rude, obnoxious, and giving orders would be an effective persuader. They are a younger generation, and some are relatives. And they usually are intelligent, smart, and vote Republican. Former Freepers—plenty of those who didn’t and still don’t like DJT.

So while I’ll work on them, to change, I won’t be taking your tactless advice. Younger people resist Elderly folks acting like that-the results are generally opposite of what one would wish.
