Which Witch-hunt Is that Brian? The one where the govt goes after crooks who steal from charities and then try to cover it up?
Id watch your public statements carefully Brian because the prosecution certainly is. And they arent going to give you much of a plea bargain after you spend all your time and energy badmouthing. Its called lack of remorse.
Amen.
When I was on the PTA board, we got hit with $16K in fines because prior boards never filed tax returns.
The PTA bought a laptop and accounting software and I spent several weeks rebuilding 5 years of financials so we could file clean returns. We also discovered missing deposits and had to threaten prior boards with prosecution to get the money back.
It took a year of fighting with the taxpayers advocate office of the IRS, but I eventually got all the fines waived. The principal credited me with saving the PTA. I trained the new board members coming in and they have kept it clean ever since.
It’s easy to win against the IRS. Don’t freaking cheat, don’t be a slimy basted and take charity money for yourself, and keep records, records, records...it doesn’t belong to you!
You are not quite as smart as you think. His lawyers have undoubtedly instructed him to not make any statements about the case including a denial counterproductive (he “doth protest too much”) which the prosecution can use to hurt him when the case comes to trial. The fact that a person who has been charged with a crime does not deny the charges means absolutely nothing. He has, or will shortly, enter a “not guilty” plea and that should say it all.
This man is entitled to the presumption of innocence.
