And the punishment for being convicted of this “crime” is a death sentence? He was on his own property. Had he gone to court he would not have been convicted of brandishing since he was allowed to have it, it was in his own home and he was in the process of putting it down when he saw officers at the door.
This weapon was not brandished it was simply visible and just barely that. If you search my house you may find visible weapons, let me correct that, you will find visible weapons.
I had a deputy stop me one time and he saw what he suspected was the hilt of my gun. He started screaming “WEAPON, WEAPON HE’S GOT A WEAPON”. LEO’s started coming out of the woodwork and I spent the night in Jail. The next morning the judge dismissed the case and ordered the sheriff to give me my gun back. I love law and order but I hate ass holes.
This case perhaps is not murder but very close to it.
Back in the day when I knew my local cops by name, it was different.

I think most people, myself included, would feel intimidated if after knocking on a door it was opened by a man holding a gun! And only the deceased knows what his intent was, and under the circumstances no one else will ever know that.
