Yes, but ancient Churches should be preserved.

Without such structures, the depth and color of the history of the Church is lost.

A church building is a sacred space. In a Catholic church, the sacrifice of Calvary is re-presented, heaven and earth are united in worship and praise; the heavenly Jerusalem. The people of God, yes, are much more sacred, but physical objects set aside for worship help us to know, love and serve Him, and must be treated with reverence.
