California governor: Hundreds of wildfires blazing statewide

VACAVILLE, Calif. (AP) — Crews were battling wildfires in the San Francisco Bay Area and thousands of people were under orders to evacuate Wednesday as hundreds of wildfires blazed across the state amid a blistering heat wave now in its second week.

Gov. Gavin Newsom blamed “this extraordinary weather we’re experiencing and all of these lightning strikes” for 367 known fires, including 23 major fires or groups of fires. He said the state has recorded nearly 11,000 lightning strikes in 72 hours.

Police and firefighters went door-to-door before dawn Wednesday in a frantic scramble to warn residents to evacuate as fire encroached on Vacaville, a city of about 100,000 between San Francisco and Sacramento. At least 50 structures were destroyed, including some homes, and 50 damaged.

“This is an incredibly emotional and stressful time for most of us who’ve endured a number of wildfires over the last few years,” said Sonoma County Sheriff Mark Essick.

Ash and smoke filled the air over San Francisco, which is surrounded by wildfires burning in multiple counties to the north, east and south. The so-called LNU Lightning fire is made up of several fires burning in five counties north of San Francisco, including in Vacaville, and had consumed 72 square miles as of Wednesday morning (186 square kilometers).

“Lightning strikes—”

And electrical transmission lines occasionally throw off sparks.

Well, I am about to move up the coast from where I am

Unless you're going north of Frisco the homeless get even worse the further you go.

They just need you to bank-roll their elitist lifestyles and fund the special projects that will get them elected for their next term, and all under the protective arm of “Mother Nancy”.

Good. I got a scanner on my phone when dimrat cities started burning down. I live 70 miles outside of Houston and wanted to know what was going on down there. Also it is getting to the heart of hurricane season. Good to know what is going on.

Unfortunately California, but not for long.

Millions are leaving the state because of the crime, taxes, left wing courts, support for homosexual laws and gay marriage after the people by state ballot voted against gay marriage and the courts subverted the will of the people. There is no second amendment in California (no handguns with roster, no buying ammo online or without a California ID and DOJ approval card, no so called assault rifles, only one purchase month, on and on). Now they want to have tax payers pay for transgender medical changes on children. How evil is that? These bastards are sick evil people in Sacramento.

I am going from LA about 90 miles to my hometown which I only lived in a could of years as a baby. I am from a farming family.

Carpinteria is very beautiful....but tiny ... right on the ocean. Town is about 6 blocks long. No homeless at all....but Santa Barbara, also lovely, is Democrat and has lots of wayward free homeless.

California is my home, my family has farmed here for many generations even though my mom relocated me too LA where I worked as an equities trader for over 40 years. I will never, ever leave California. It is truly beautiful here.

Having said. that, I have never warmed to San Francisco. A bunch of worthless snobs. I detest having to go up there on business at times.

People buy a few acres, build a house 20 miles from anywhere. Gravel road that most firetrucks couldn’t hope to get up, surrounded by plants that burn as part of the natural cycle of things, and then bitch to high heaven when no one will write them fire insurance or fight the fires in their area. Seen it for decades.

Sounds very much like the gorgeous setup that was built near Santa Cruz by Victor Ohta, an ophthalmologist.

Ohta was murdered — along with his family and his secretary — by serial killer John Linley Frazier in October, 1971.

After he murdered them all, Frazier typed the following message on Dr. Ohta's typewriter:

Halloween, 1970. Today World War III will begin, as bought to you by the People of the Free Universe. From this day forward, anyone and/or everyone or company of persons who misuses the natural environment or destroys same will suffer the penalty of death by the People of the Free Universe. I and my comrades from this day forth will fight until death or freedom against anyone who does not support natural life on this planet. Materialism must die, or Mankind will stop.
KNIGHT OF WANDS
KNIGHT OF CUPS
KNIGHT OF PENTACLES
KNIGHT OF SWORDS

Frazier left the note on the window of Dr. Ohta's Rolls- Royce.

I think San Francisco is beautiful and a very fun town, however I agree with you about the people, but it’s not just the city, it’s pervasive throughout the Bay area. My sister and I don’t talk because she is on the left and I am very far right on the political spectrum. I live in SoCal and she lives in the Bay area. We both grew up in SoCal though, and she started on the right, but life in the North changed her views considerably.

WTF? Lots of good people are in danger of losing their homes. What kind of low class jackass comment is that?

Are you too much of a retard to have ever heard of lightning strikes, halfwit?

Same stuff’s been going on since long before any people lived here.

Hope you are ok.
