Communities are trying to keep the spread of the COVID-19 virus to a minimum and many areas have instituted mask-wearing requirements. But some areas are taking the rules a step closer and issuing fines and in some cases jail time to those who go maskless.
Charleston, South Carolina, has stopped giving warnings for those who don’t comply with the city’s mask ordinance. Now first-time offenders will be issued a ticket with a $100 fine. A second offense will cost the person $200 and subsequent fines will be $500, WCBD reported. City leaders estimate that about 65% of people in Charleston wear masks, but they want to make sure that instead of being shoved in a pocket or purse, that they’re actually on the face of those who are out in public.

Michigan’s impossibly bad Governor Whitmer ordered the Michigan State Police to cruise to watch for violators and arrest them. Couple of weeks ago. Some seem to ignore her.
Now that the cities can charge a fee for not wearing a mask, will that mean police will start ticketing rioters and looters, or just normal people who aren’t committing a crime?
Bet they’re not actually doing it.
Especially if they refuse to reveal how many tickets they’ve written.
This is just a new scare tactic.
Its not a law.
Ask them if they would rather have their city burned to the ground since that is clearly NOT a crime.
I wear them to do shopping sometimes lowering it to get a bit of fresher air. The minute I leave a place its off.

I’m a big supporter of our people in blue, but police departments that send cops out to write tickets for this deserve to lose some funding.
They can all be voted out.
Unless of course they declare that opposition to them is a pandemic, and declare all who oppose them as criminally insane!

Not cop you need to worry about, try Karen. They are out there and they are nasty.
If you don’t pay a state fine they take your driver’s license. In Florida it costs $500 to have it reinstated. One way or another they get their money.

We have that now. I’m curious what they have defined as “wearing”. Hanging from your ear is technically wearing.
It would be fun to inundate the courts.
Can the accused have their day in court? Can they name what law on the books that has been broken?
Well, after communities defund and eliminate police, then the fines will become meaningless.
