UCSD (San Diego) had a similar requirement when my son was attending. He signed up for a class with a black, lesbian, uber-feminist instructor. After berating and attacking all the whites in the class (particularly white males), she gave only the whites their first assignment. They had to write a paper on how their parents instilled racist values in their lives and how this was really a measure of how their parents hated the student.

My son immediately dropped the class and fulfilled the requirement by taking a Jazz Appreciation class. It was the only class he dropped in his university time. His response to the whole scene was, “Seriously?”

My son at Cal State also had a diversity requirement class for his BS degree. He took ethnic foods. I think Jazz Appreciation would be a good option too.

My worry is this must be an ADDITIONAL woke class that will likely be unavoidably woke and anti-white. Jazz and ethnic foods are not necessarily anti-white. I’d bet the new ones are.

I have two teens still in HS—I think Cal State may not be part of their futures. So very sad.

As a 1976 Revelle College, UCSD grad, it's disappointing to hear about that kind of trash on campus. Revelle had a "fine arts" requirement that I satisfied by taking a production class that presented a play called "Blood Wedding". We built all the props in addition to reviewing the literature behind the play.

An interesting aside to my class. The director of the play was Eric Christmas. If the name doesn't ring a bell, grab a copy of the Porky's video. Eric Christmas played the high school principal.

There were some unavoidable hazards. The French literature humanities class came bundled with a cute blond French TA who was a flaming communist. She had first shot at grading an essay required in the class. She put a C on mine. A disagreement between my extremely conservative view and hers. I took it to the professor. He said, "This is no a C paper". He graded it A. The left was infiltrating UCSD even in the early 70s.
