Students at California State University, the nations largest four-year public university system, will need to take an ethic studies course to graduate under a bill signed Monday by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

I really want to take an Islamic woman studies course dealing with the female experience in Muslim societies.
At this point, isn’t it redundant? Everything is ethnic studies.
I had to take some multicultural requirement classes, so I took “The Glory of Greece” and “The History of Rome”.
We didn’t have to take some Black, Jew, or Homo class though.
UCSD (San Diego) had a similar requirement when my son was attending. He signed up for a class with a black, lesbian, uber-feminist instructor. After berating and attacking all the whites in the class (particularly white males), she gave only the whites their first assignment. They had to write a paper on how their parents instilled racist values in their lives and how this was really a measure of how their parents hated the student.
My son immediately dropped the class and fulfilled the requirement by taking a Jazz Appreciation class. It was the only class he dropped in his university time. His response to the whole scene was, “Seriously?”
In the 70’s a course on propaganda analysis was required at Iowa State University to graduate.
We supposedly learned how the older generation was lying to us. I leaned how everyone was lying to me.
Wouldn’t it be more educational if they required the Students to actually LIVE in these ethnic countries??
Venezuela 30 days
Saudi Arabia 30 days
Cuba 30 days
they will learn a hell of a lot more than those books say
Because, apparently, CA students are not getting enough radical propaganda already.
How many times has this trite "national reckoning over racism" line been parroted in the press? The mainstream media sure likes to push a talking point/narrative.
........will need to take an ethic studies course....
They need courses on ethics. All kommiefornia politicians must be forced to study ethics. Actually, the entire west coast should be force fed a steady diet of ethics. And kolorado, new york, Illinois.......
To acknowledge your white supremacy and beg for forgiveness?
The AP site has “ethnic” in the headline, “ethic” in the lead of the story.
Proofreaders, anyone? Fact-checkers?
By definition, a group that can force you to take a course in marginalized communities isn’t marginalized. You are the one who is marginalized.
In 1974 I was working on my BS biology minor chemistry degree. Needed a humanities course. All day was booked with lab classes. A womans studies course was offered at night. I was the only guy in the room. Felt like the high school girl taking wood shop
My son at Cal State also had a diversity requirement class for his BS degree. He took ethnic foods. I think Jazz Appreciation would be a good option too.
My worry is this must be an ADDITIONAL woke class that will likely be unavoidably woke and anti-white. Jazz and ethnic foods are not necessarily anti-white. I’d bet the new ones are.
I have two teens still in HS—I think Cal State may not be part of their futures. So very sad.
I love ethnic foods. My grandmother was the best Okie cook ever.
Democrat Ethics? Bah hah hah hah...!!!
Liberals are constantly braying about "Social Justice," but just what the hell is it?
Trust me when I say it - it wont matter. College has become a total joke and the only ones that havent caught on are the idiots still paying absurd sums to get the title. Nothing is learned, and nothing is retained. I pretend to teach, they pretend to learn. Education 2020.
In his second term, Trump should sign a bill requiring all schools, colleges and universities getting federal aid money of any sort to require a “Western Civilization and Its Contributions” Course, co-designed by Hillsdale College and Prager University.
OK: English History 101; French History 101; Italian History 101; German History 101; and Spanish History 101.
