They Caved: Project Veritas' James O'Keefe Emerges Victorious in Second Amendment Fight With FBI

Project Veritas’ James O’Keefe tried to buy a firearm and was denied a few days ago. He later discovered that he was on the prohibited person list regarding the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). Was this an error? Was this over his investigative reporting? The Federal Bureau of Investigation put him on that list. What’s going on? O’Keefe is not a convicted felon. So, it’s no shocker that when he found out his constitutional right to own firearms was infringed upon, he sued. He filed a lawsuit against the FBI earlier this month.

And now, we’ve learned that Mr. O’Keefe has emerged victorious. Furthermore, some key allies in the Second Amendment fight, like Richard Heller, who was the driving force behind the landmark DC v. Heller decision that gutted the city’s handgun ban, said that O’Keefe should pursue finding those who messed with his rights. He added that the FBI doesn’t do things by accident (via Project Veritas):

If I remember correctly, the gun control act of ‘68 pretty much put an end to mail order firearm sales. Before that, lots of outdoors type magazines had advertisements for mail order guns. Shotgun News was also a good source..

Remember when the FBI was an object of admiration?

No. They've been the equivalent of Stasi since the inception of the department.

Imho, the FBI cannot be trusted. Simple as that.

Barr, do your job.

The one indictment/plea is a start.

I only own a shotgun, but I got my conceal carry permit last December when I realized that the incoming government at Richmond, VA, was about to take away my ability to acquire one or even own a gun.

Didn’t Lee Harvey Oswald buy his rifle via mail order?

This is why real conservatives, real 2A activists did not ever support Slick Willie’s Brady Bill background check system.

At some point, a private organization proposed a private (”BIDS”?) system to perform background checks. This would be an improvement.

They may constrain you some, but unless they’re on you 24/7, they can’t stop you from “acquiring” a gun. Yup. The old gun show loophole. :-)

“Agree to disagree”.

But even leaving that aside, do you also contend the Hoover was not abusing files to pressure/black-mail Americans?

The rest of my points?

I have no doubt Hoover abused his office, but with a Byzantine place like D.C., surely nothing extraordinary. At least Hoover was a patriot, unlike the current crop of insiders, who are far more loyal to Chinese and other international interests.
