Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot wants to avoid troublesome subjects like spiking violence and public schools not opening so she talked Wednesday of her pet political art project.
She hopes to add more art in public spaces after subjecting public statues to her liberal critical review, what she calls her racial healing and historical reckoning project.
But taxpayers thinking about fleeing Chicagos uncontrolled violence and taxes dont need PC happy talk about statues.
They want an end to the violence. They want to feel safe walking downtown or in any other neighborhood with their families. They dont want to run into caravans of looters.
I dont think she likes criticism, Vallas said of the mayor. And I dont think she knows what shes doing quite frankly. Shes always looking for a scapegoat. Theres got to be a scapegoat. And you know that she doesnt like tough questions.
Vallas said Lightfoot was unprepared for the mass looting downtown a few days ago. What happened downtown on Monday morning was a repeat of what happened a couple of months ago when looting erupted during the George Floyd protests.
For the second time in recent months the mayor was caught unprepared, as they were in the initial riots. This was a repeat performance.
They were late raising the bridges, blocking the roads, but they were once again caught unprepared. And you know the mayor doesnt like anyone asking tough questions. She gave her rationale, offered rhetoric, and when a reporter tried to ask a penetrating question about the Cook County states attorney, she lashed out at him.
And she lashed out at Ald. Hopkins. Brian represents his ward well. Hes not a bombastic individual. Not a constant critic. She doesnt want people asking her questions.

Soon Chicago will just be an airport layover.
She and DeBlabbio are in a race to the bottom.
Got right on it calling her out? Or waited until the violence started leaking into better neighborhoods?
The worst mayor in Chicago history.
*************
Brought to you by the voters of Chicago. Let them suffer the consequences of their choice. Its their problem.
The mayor like other flaming liberals have had their entire narrative on life destroyed. Their alternate reality if you will.
With that, they are incapable of reacting and using logic to solve the problem(s).
Everything the left believes is driven by dogma and romantic notions of utopia. They spend their lives denying human nature.
The mayor is just getting people killed now her incompetence.
It would be nice if this reporter would not make the assumption that any of us have a clue who Paul Vallas is.
Got right on it calling her out? Or waited until the violence started leaking into better neighborhoods?

Timing certainly suggests the latter.
There is a schism on the left right now. For whatever reason, leftist politicians believed that they controlled the mob or could control the mob.
They are finding out the hard way (and dragging us along for the ride) that they do not control the mob. Just ask the mayor of Portland how it is working out for him.
I have been to Chicago many times to attend trade shows. It's been over 10 years since I was there. We were supposed to have one there this year, but it was canceled due to the pandemic. It is rescheduled to next year. I won't be going. I refuse to conduct business in a lawless shithole like Chicago.
Smh...delusional...yeah theres lots of racial healing going on......blue city blue city government blue voters blue state....blue balls...
Exactly...
Sure, That's what the commies always do.. Remember how artsy the Russians were back in the day.?? It's like Rome throwing Christens to the lions in order to take the peoples minds off their problems.. It's good entertainment...
And who is paul vallas?
The column is an excerpt. The Vallas biography is in the full column.
I mean, I read that three times, and at no point is Mr. Vallas identified.
Journalism is SOOOOOOOOOO dead in this country.
Paul Vallas, a former candidate for mayor.
Does anyonr have any real time data on Chicago residential and commercial real estate prices? Hard to beleive that they have maintained their value.
