One imagines a scenario— maybe not in Seattle—where the populace blocks that path.

The default conclusion by most people appears to be that the police are keeping the protestors from the "rest of us".

But it's more likely true that that the police have actually been protecting the protestors from the vengeance of the "rest of us".

I feel a little sorry for the protestors. I don't think they realize what they're in for.

That’s exactly what happened in a community near me. The antifa/BLM Nazis showed up for a seig heil march and were met by armed townfolk. The cops formed a protective phalanx around the little weenies to protect the soy bois from “tripping” and harming themselves and escorted them out of town.
