The state of California does not have the financial wherewithal to afford the White House's plan to extend expanded unemployment benefits during the COVID-19 pandemic, Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday.

Newsom said in his daily coronavirus briefing Monday that the state would have to cover 25 percent of the costs associated with a $400 per week unemployment insurance payment, as outlined in a memorandum President Donald Trump announced over the weekend.

That 25 percent would amount to the state spending between $700 million and $3 billion in taxpayer funds per week. The state would have to make sharp cuts to public services to foot that bill, Newsom said...

To quote the Senior Army Instructor from my high school days back at the end of the 1960s. The colonel was of White Russian ancestry as I recall and a US Army WW-II vet amonst other things.

“As we say in the old country toughski...”

FWIW, The other quote that comes to mind from the colonel was.

My mother was so tough you could hand her a quarter and she would hand you two bits” :=)

Bingo....This is the state which opened it’s borders decades ago and created an endless conga-line of millions of criminals to enter legally from Mexico...

These are the same enemy agents, disguised as legitimate politicians, who’ve allowed their schools to be financially choked off, jobs, social services, healthcare, hospital, jails, prisons etc....All while looting the tax payers in CA, and now they tell them, “Duh, we don’t have any money left for YOU”! Suckers!

It’s way worse than you can imagine.

It’s open season for UI fraud.

Fraudsters don’t care about hurting anyone because it’s government money...but that’s not what they’re doing...

When a bogus return is filed, and then the real claimant tries to file, everything gets locked up, and the people who need their benefits, go through hell to clean things up or get nothing.

CA system needs a total over haul. The staff still are accessing legacy style screens to process incomplete claims.

Almost all of California’s money (around 80%) goes to pay for public pensions. It’s so overwhelming of a problem that every election cycle the state tries to get the voter base to approve yet another bond measure to pay for the interest on previous bonds that were used to pay out pension liabilities. It’s been an endless cycle for over 20 years.

The rest of the budget money is used to pay for cronyism in the form of social programs where a fraction of a percent of the remaining funds goes to the beneficiaries and the other 99.98% goes to pay out political favors and nepotism.

The state is already insolvent, but refuses to declare it in order to hold onto power. Trump needs to hold his ground and let our government collapse, then he can have the Feds come and pick up the pieces and start rebuilding.

At this point I would rather lay off all public employees. We have too many ridiculous and impossible to follow laws on the books anyway and the illegals and legions of homeless get to sh*t all over the rules anyways, so why not have totally anarchy at this point. We still have tons of conservatives left here, all of which are pissed beyond belief, but everyone just grins and bares it anyway.

To me it seems like everyone’s waiting for the “first shot” to be fired, but hasn’t recognized that that shot was taken years ago. Now I think everyone will ask “what happened” when their evicted from their homes and loaded on the proverbial box cars and still comply with whatever demands our government makes. Frankly we all deserve the oppressive government we get when we all sit and do nothing.

Rant over. I feel a little better now, I suppose.
