Pessimistic even with an effective vaccine. If a vaccine was actually as effective as his worst case scenario that’s still pretty good to get that many people immune - not only to make them personally immune but to reduce transmission rates.
The seasonal flu vaccine has been rated 40% to 50% “effective” over the last 2 years. The economy hasn’t been shutdown for a vaccine that is less than 60% effective.
But Dr Fauci is only partially correct in his prognostications part of the time.
