Obituary blames Trump and governor for man’s COVID-19 death

A man from Texas died from COVID-19 on July 22 — and the obituary his wife wrote for him has now gone viral. In the obituary for David W. Nagy, published in the small local newspaper the Jefferson Jimplecute, his wife, Stacey Nagy blames his death on President Trump and Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

“David’s death was needless,” his wife, Stacey Nagy, wrote. “The blame for his death and the deaths of all the other innocent people, falls on Trump, Abbott and all the other politicians who did not take this pandemic seriously and were more concerned with their popularity and votes than lives.”

She also said others are to blame: “the many ignorant, self centered and selfish people who refused to follow the advice of the medical professionals, believing their ‘right’ not to wear a mask was more important than killing innocent people.”

“Dave did everything he was supposed to do, but you did not. Shame on all of you, and may Karma find you all!” she wrote.

Nagyn said her husband died at age 79 in the ICU at Christus Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview, Texas, and that he “suffered greatly from the ravages of the COVID-19 virus and the separation from his much loved family who were not allowed at his bedside.”

He is survived by his wife and five children, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends, according to the obit.

Stacey Nagy confirmed via Facebook that she wrote the obituary and submitted it to the Jefferson Jimplecute, CBS affiliate KYTX reports. Her words reached people far from Jefferson, Texas, after a photo of the newspaper clipping was shared online.

In an interview with fact-checking website Snopes, Nagy said she was glad the obituary was seen widely because she wanted to get her message out.

“It gets me so angry that people are aren’t taking this seriously,” she told Snopes. “The people who are dying are the older people especially — a lot of younger people are dying too — but it’s almost like they’re saying, ‘Who cares about the older people?’ I’ve been with my husband for 20 years and all of a sudden he’s gone. People should know how this makes others feel.”

She said in the interview that she’s seen many people in her town failing to wear face masks and she expressed anger that the pandemic has been politicized.

Due to visitor restrictions implemented in hospitals, Nagy couldn’t be with husband in person before he died and the last time she saw him was through a see-through barrier. He was unconscious, she told Snopes.

“I miss my husband dearly,” she said in the interview. “I’m taking one day at a time to just try to keep going. When I wrote that thing it was because of him. I don’t want his death just to disappear. I wrote that and partially, it keeps him alive for me.”

CBS News has reached out to Stacey Nagy and will update with any response.

He was 79 so what other health issues did he have that may have contributed to his death...

Nagy told BuzzFeed News that her husband had fallen in March and after time in the hospital had been recovering in a nursing home. Nagy said her husband had several preexisting conditions, “including diabetes, heart problems and early signs of dementia,” that put him in the category of people most at risk of becoming seriously ill from the disease. So even though he wanted to go home, he stayed in the nursing home due to his vulnerability to the virus sweeping the country.

After his facility underwent a lockdown, the couple was forced to stay physically apart and had to yell through a window to talk and send kisses to one another through the glass, BuzzFeed News reported.

Still, somehow, her husband became ill with COVID-19. Despite Remdesivir, plasma and ventilator treatments, David Nagy died.

The wife said that Dave did everything he was supposed to do, but he died anyway. So how are Trump and Abbott at fault? The man was 79 years old as well.

And he looks overweight as well, one of the co-morbidities. What further co-morbidities did he have due to being overweight?

They'll never tell. Doesn't fit the orange man bad narrative.

Chris Connors an “Irish Golden Gloves boxer from Quincy, Massachusetts.”
Chris Connors died, at age 67, after trying to box his bikini-clad hospice nurse
just moments earlier. Ladies’ man, game slayer, and outlaw Connors told his last
inappropriate joke on Friday, December 9, 2016, that which cannot be printed here.
Anyone else fighting ALS and stage 4 pancreatic cancer would have gone quietly into
the night, but Connors was stark naked drinking Veuve in a house full of friends
and family as Al Green played from the speakers. The way he died is just like he lived:
he wrote his own rules, he fought authority and he paved his own way.
And if you said he couldn’t do it, he would make sure he could.
Most people thought he was crazy for swimming in the ocean in January; for being a
skinny Irish Golden Gloves boxer from Quincy, Massachusetts; for dressing up as
a priest and then proceeding to get into a fight at a Jewish deli.
Many gawked at his start of a career on Wall Street without a financial background - but
instead with an intelligent, impish smile, love for the spoken word, irreverent sense
of humor, and stunning blue eyes that could make anyone fall in love with him.
As much as people knew hanging out with him would end in a night in jail or a killer
screwdriver hangover, he was the type of man that people would drive 16 hours
at the drop of a dime to come see.
He lived 1000 years in the 67 calendar years we had with him because he attacked life;
he grabbed it by the lapels, kissed it, and swung it back onto the dance floor.
At the age of 26 he planned to circumnavigate the world - instead, he ended up
spending 40 hours on a life raft off the coast of Panama. In 1974, he founded the
Quincy Rugby Club. In his thirties, he sustained a knife wound after saving a woman
from being mugged in New York City. He didn’t slow down: at age 64,
he climbed to the base camp of Mount Everest.
Throughout his life, he was an accomplished hunter and birth control device tester
(with some failures, notably Caitlin Connors, 33; Chris Connors, 11; and Liam Connors, 8).
He was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of
what was important - the simplicity of living a life with those you love.
Although he threw some of the most memorable parties during the greater half of a century,
he would trade it all for a night in front of the fire with his family in Maine.
His acute awareness of the importance of a life lived with the ones you love over any
material possession was only handicapped by his territorial attachment to the
remote control of his Sonos music.
Chris enjoyed cross-dressing, a well-made fire, and mashed potatoes with lots of butter.
His regrets were few, but include eating a rotisserie hot dog from an unmemorable
convenience store in the summer of 1986.
Of all the people he touched, both willing and unwilling, his most proud achievement
in life was marrying his wife Emily Ayer Connors who supported him in all his glory
during his heyday and lovingly supported him physically during their last days together.
Absolut vodka and Simply Orange companies are devastated by the loss of Connors.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held during Happy Hour (4 p.m.) at York Harbor
Inn on Monday, December 19.

It really saddens me to see people DEMAND others give up their God given rights because they believe government should RULE EVERYTHING in everyone’s life!! Fauci hasn’t been right about ANYTHING he is a deep state bureaucrat who has NEVER actually practiced medicine YET he is their medical God!! This woman putting this in her husbands obituary is disgraceful!!

“Why do men usually die before their wives?

Because they WANT TO.”

Men earn their reward earlier.

This is what happens when you let Californians move to your state.

It’s everyone else’s fault, none of their own.

Whining and bitching and stamping their feet is all you get in this state.

Did it ever occur to her to blame immigration from China? Or the Chinese Communist Party for letting it get out of control and then exporting it?

Nope. That would be WrongThink. Better to scream, pound the table and blame all the people who actually did everything they could.

But that’s who the Californians are: permanent children, always infantile in their responses.

That’s what’s taught here.

He was 79 and she’d been married to him - OR WITH HIM - as they say today - for 20 years and apparently in PERFECT HEALTH that couldn’t possibly be an existing condition that he was treated for? She doesn’t say a word about WHERE he’d been - how he would have contracted Covid, just that he did everything right - which translates to what?

I can’t imagine anyone putting something political in a loved one’s obituary. Hope the eligible widowers steer clear of her!

If he died of heart disease, a stroke, cancer, suicide, or the flu it would also have been President Trump’s fault.

Or struck by an asteroid

This is interesting because the paper will not print obits that say someone was murdered or killed by a drunk driver because of liable concerns.

Presidents and Governors are public figures. It is near impossible for them to prove libel. How convenient!

I told my daughter at the very beginning of this that if I die from Covid, I don’t want the whole country to shut down. Crazy how twisted this has become.
