A gun on the ground, a body on the street, cops, civilians milling about in confusion. A woman was screaming, sitting in her car, parked outside one of the expensive Oak Street boutiques.
“What the (bleep)!” she screamed at no one. “What the (bleep)!!!”
And I wondered: Is Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot losing the city? Or has she already lost it?
Where are Gov. J.B. Pritzker, and Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx and Foxx’s political patron, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, to stand and tell us what they’re doing to help Lightfoot stop the violence?
Where’s Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul? Where’s Cook County Chief Judge Tim Evans?
Why aren’t they standing up with the mayor explaining what they’re doing — or in the case of Foxx and Evans, what they’re not doing — to help stop the violence?
They’re all Democrats. Why so quiet?
Or is it that they care about suffering only when they can exploit it at election time?
Foxx, Preckwinkle (the boss of the Cook County Democratic organization) and Evans should be up there with Lightfoot, answering tough questions on why they thought it was such a good idea to reduce or eliminate bail and to rely on pathetic home monitoring bracelets as equity tools in criminal justice reform?
How many offenders accused of violent crime are being released on bracelets, and then re-offend?
Many disagree with me, thinking Lightfoot has lost the city.
She’s caved to violent protesters who smashed Michigan Avenue to pieces weeks ago and didn’t demand early enough that the National Guard come in, which allowed looting to spread across the city. She fought an unnecessary political war with her police department, in part to stay on good rhetorical terms with the hard left and keep it from attacking her.

Taxpayers don’t hold news conferences like politicians. Taxpayers vote with their feet in every neighborhood.
Detroit learned this hard lesson after riots in the 60’s.
Guess every other large city is going to insist on learning it on their own.

Another John Kasshole cheerleading column for his hero Mayor Lighthead. It is amazing that people in the Chicago area still think Kasshole is a conservative.
Lighthead has lost the city - it will be empty by the end of her first term. This week, Lighthead caved to the Communist Teachers Union and will allow remote classes. Chicago schools will be closed for the remainder of 2020. All Fall Sports have been canceled.
Lighthead has been a disaster, despite Kasshole’s unwavering support.
I mean, a Repub other than Trump. Sheesh - can he get a little help? Anybody?

I visited there a couple of years ago and was watching the local news. As I watched the broadcast, including the “on the street” field reporters, I suddenly realized, as I saw the faces of the reporters, the perps, the leaders and the witnesses - it was like I was visiting Wakanda.

Governor Pritzker, a multi billionaire, was a mistake as were and are the other Democrats including, but not limited to Lori Lightfoot and Kimm Fox.
As long as the voters of Illinois elect these scummers they simply get what they deserve..........it’s as simple as that.

Years ago, I was in the vicinity of Detroit, Michigan and I tuned it the local news broadcast. The broadcast was exactly as you described.
The talking heads were reciting lines about the latest carnage on a block filled with abandoned houses that ought to have been condemned and demolished, but Detroit lacks the funds to provide such essential services. It was eerie to watch the news anchors carrying on as if this dysfunction was perfectly normal.
The same pattern is now playing out in Chicago. It used to be a livable city.
