A former producer for The Ellen DeGeneres show claims the host was well aware of the toxic work environment outlined in a series of recent investigations by BuzzFeed News, and was to some extent even responsible for it.
A veteran of various successful talk shows, Hedda Muskat was recruited by executive producer Andy Lassner back in 2003 when the show was still in development. Yet according to Muskat, DeGeneres was responsible for the toxic work environment involving racial discrimination and sexual misconduct that has now been alleged.
I had never seen this before, Muskat told The Wrap. I had never been around a toxic host. Muskat described one incident in which executive producer Ed Glavin screamed at a crew member in front of his colleagues.

Ellen Degeneres, Rosie O'Donnell, Paula Poundstone...
There must be something about these gay comediennes who hit the big time that makes them self-destruct afterwards.

Poundstone is apparently a self-proclaimed asexual. She’s also an atheist.

LOL
Well that would certainly explain why Barack and Ellen were such good pals.

That’s a great story. Agar was a good and talented actor.
Yeah, it is a little sad that stars who have seen better days end up at those things. But, like I sez - they make some money, find out they still have fans and the fans get to meet their faves. So, it’s all good.

I don't know if I'd say Agar was a good and talented actor, but the camera liked him and he knew how to say his lines and hit his marks, and he was lucky to fall into a lot of movies that didn't require too much of him and which eventually enjoyed cult status. His problem was that he was a serious alcoholic and a mean drunk for many years and it destroyed his career, as well as his first marriage to Shirley Temple (which is how he got into movies in the first place). At some point, I think maybe in the late 1970s, he found God, stopped drinking, and turned into the lovely old man I met that day.
It's funny, I bought an autographed picture from him that day and when he signed it to me he wrote "God Bless John Agar." Now, grammatically, there should be a comma there, but then I realized, "No, that's perfect. God bless John Agar."
