It WAS ammonium nitrate. Similar to the Texas City explosion back in the 1940’s.

That’s believable. There was an explosion in Texas City, TX in 1947. Guy tossed a lit cigarette into a hold full of paper sacks full of Ammonium Nitrate.
The ship exploded, and then a ship moored nearby full of the same stuff also exploded.
Blast about the same as the one seen today. Could be possible.
