Joe Biden is not expected to pick a running mate until at least Aug. 10. The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee had previously said he expected to name someone to the job by the first of the month.

I don't think it was incompetence of letting the cat out of the bag.
I think it was a trial balloon to try and measure the public response to see if her negatives were really as high as they fear.
Michelle has a very cushy life, likes the celebrity and Hollywood circuit. I also think she is too lazy to be in a heated campaign for VP, not to mention the rigors of being a President or VP.
He wants “the other Biden” but the party bosses are trying to convince him there is no such person.
Didn’t that also happen to Reagan? I remember reading something about how the party selected WHWB to be his VP.
And she doesn’t want to be indicted.
How will it be explained that Biden’s vice presidential nominee is out on the campaign trail and Biden isn’t?

I agree with the need another week to build up the suspense theory after the Politico debacle.
