Montgomery Co. *private* schools ordered to remain closed for in-person instruction

Nonpublic schools in Montgomery County, Maryland, are ordered to remain closed for in-person instruction through Oct. 1.

County Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles announced the health directive to be effective immediately, citing the need to protect the safety of parents, students and teachers amid the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason for the order.

“At this point the data does not suggest that in-person instruction is safe for students or teachers,” Gayles said in a statement.

“We have seen increases in transmission rates for COVID-19 in the State of Maryland, the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia, particularly in younger age groups, and this step is necessary to protect the health and safety of Montgomery County residents.”

The order includes, but is not limited to, all private pay schools, schools affiliated with religious institutions, or schools that are otherwise considered to be independent schools.

Gayles will reevaluate the order before Oct. 1 to determine if it should be extended, terminated or amended, a news release from the county said.

Montgomery County Public Schools will start the school year with virtual-only learning for the first semester, Superintendent Jack Smith announced last week.

Cases of COVID-19 in Maryland have been increasing in recent weeks. As of Friday, there are more than 88,000 cases, and 8,377 people 19-years-old and younger have tested positive for the new coronavirus.

In Montgomery County, there are 17,568 cases of COVID-19, and 750 people have died from it.

The Democrat/Left is near achieving their tactical objective initiated over four months ago of keeping things locked down until the first Tuesday in November.

PG often follows Montgomery County’s lead on government abusiveness. Both are leftist Democrat-controlled.

I just don’t understand the strategy of keeping schools closed until November. Is it to piss parents off in hopes they go Biden? Keep them closed so you can’t physically vote at the schools? A combination?

As retired home educators we’ve always believed home education to be the best choice. It’s rapidly becoming the only choice for parents who care about their kids.

The only thing that makes sense to me is that the Democrat/Left and unions think that by keeping the public schools closed (and by command of unelected bureaucrats keeping private/charter schools closed as well), they would force Trump to take action. Then they would blame him for any "infections" that may occur and accuse him of violating states rights.

As these politicians, unelected bureaucrats and union bosses have the support of most women and many former "men" who, still scared beyond reason and paralyzed with fear of the Chinese Virus, are truly afraid of the schools being reopened no matter how much keeping them closed hurts their kids. That is, these frightened parents don't see what the Democrat/Left is doing which is a direct attack on the health and well-being of their children.

Is Montgomery County as bad as PG County?

Yes. PG County is poor and stupid. Montgomery County is rich and stupid.

Keep them all closed. Then wonder why crime goes up, mental health breaks down and black children are denied school meals. No sports either. Crush the dreams of kids who aspire to continue their career.

Really smart.
