U.S. deaths from COVID-19 rose for a third week in a row to more than 6,300 people in the seven days ended July 26, though the number of new cases fell 2%, dropping for the first time after rising for five weeks, a Reuters analysis found.

There were nearly 460,000 new COVID-19 cases reported last week, according to the analysis. California, Florida and Texas collectively accounted for nearly 200,000 of the new cases, though the latter two states reported fewer new infections compared to the previous week.

What was the cause of death?
COPD - He was a heavy smoker for 50+ years. His last few months, the smoking started to effect his heart and lungs. He was in a rehab center before he was rushed to the ER.
From COVID-19. Reporting otherwise would be falsifying government documents.
The CDC has been explicit that you must show “the underlying cause of death, which is (a) the disease or injury which initiated the train of morbid events leading directly to death or (b) the circumstances of the accident or violence which produced the fatal injury, and if you want to say that’s COVID-19, you must show that “the circumstances are compelling within a reasonable degree of certainty”.
In other words, if you want to say on a death certificate that somebody died of COVID-19, you have to be able to demonstrate within a reasonable degree of certainty that COVID-19 initiated the train of events that resulted in the death of the person. There may be some mistakes happening here or there, but to think there are over 150,000 falsified death certificates floating around is absurd, considering the people doing that would be risking some potentially serious legal consequences for every single instance of it.
First, I’m sorry for your loss. I’ve lost too many friends and family over the years to various things and each one hurts.
As for the death certificate, the question for the hospital is not “would he have lived another 10 years”, but rather, “would he have still been alive at the time of death were it not for the disease.” From the CDC’s guidance on death certificates, they need to list the underlying cause of death, which is “the disease or injury which initiated the train of morbid events leading directly to death.” The smoking and COPD would almost certainly be listed on the death certificate for context, but if he would have lived a month or a year longer were it not for COVID-19, then COVID-19 is the Underlying Cause of Death (UCOD).
Why? Because we’re all going to die some day of something, but the death certificate notes what actually got us.
No, what I am saying if you don’t take into account both fraud and demographics of those dying then number of COVID deaths is misleading and can and is used for political purposes. Get it or are you COVIDIOT?
The number is never going to be perfect. I don’t think anyone claims otherwise. We don’t have exact numbers for any cause of death or any disease ever. For the Spanish Flu in 1918, all we know is that in the US, somewhere between 500,000 and 850,000 people died. That’s 350,000 dead Americans of uncertainty. Somehow for this, there’s an expectation that we’ll always know - to a person - exactly what happened in each and every single case. But coroners and medical examiners are still human beings. Some are lazy. Some are incompetent. Some are both.
The exact number will never be known, but we’ll have an approximate number and we’ll be able to use that for important things like trending that tells us if we’re going in a bad direction.
And yes, of course COVID-19 is being used for political purposes. It’s a thing that exists, so of course it’s being used and abused for politics, particularly when we look at the RESPONSE to it. And then there’s the blame game of who’s responsible for what deaths. I’ve played that game plenty myself, poking at Governor Cuomo for packing the nursing homes full of infected people causing a huge amount of deaths. Have Republican governors made some dumb moves that I could criticize? Probably, but if I’m being honest I’ll often gloss over all but the most egregious offenses on their part because of my political biases.
The point is that we can’t simply discount all the information around cases, deaths, and so on as though they’re all meaningless simply because the topic has political ramifications. What isn’t political is that Americans are dying. And more Americans are dying than should be. That deserves attention and frankly it deserves better leaders than we’re seeing in places like New York, New Jersey, and so on where the deaths per 1 million population are absolutely catastrophically bad.
Americans are dying, true. Having said that the lock down, masks and fear that people like you peddle is BS and not helping one bit. So with all due respect, stuff it pal.
I don’t peddle fear, I’ve never supported lockdowns, and I’ve never supported a mask mandate.
I do think wearing a mask is a good idea (because it probably helps to at least some degree and absolutely does not hurt), but people in this country are allowed and should be allowed to ignore good ideas because they have a right to make poor choices.
So why not stay off of the key board? Sounds like you like the hysteria.
Correcting misinformation and debunking conspiracy nonsense is worthwhile. Also, a lot of my favorite places to go are closed right now, sadly.
BS you loser. The death rate is falling the virus is almost harmless to the healthy and people under 60 YO. Fear mongers like you can ESAD.
The death count is total BS too. Anything found dead in a hospital bed or on the highway, is a Covid death.
Thank you for tracking down all this information. This should really be eye-opening for people who want to believe nothing is actually happening and all the data is fake. It won’t be, but it should be. I’ll be referencing back to this post later I’m sure!
Fascinating — a massive bump up this year.
so you believe the death toll is just 37 people in total?
Total death toll as of today, 28 July 2020, is 150,000 souls as per worldometer
= = =
How many of these ‘China Flu’ deaths were under 30s and in a motocycle or automobile crash?
The data is fake, everyone who dies is called a covid 19 death.
