In Knoxville, Sen. Ted Cruz says Bill Hagerty is 'scared' of Dr. Manny Sethi

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — At first, the cheers for U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz were louder than those for the man he came to stump for Friday morning, but that changed.

Cruz, R-Texas, came to Knoxville in support of Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Dr. Manny Sethi and a crowd of nearly 200 people crammed inside a dining room of the Southern Rail Station to hear from the two as Sethi attempts to go toe-to-toe with Bill Hagerty, the former U.S. ambassador to Japan.

The race has both tightened and gotten uglier in recent weeks ahead of the August 6 Election Day. Both candidates have slammed airwaves with attack ads, aimed at outdoing the other’s Republican, small government, against the liberals, Washington outsider-styled message.

Cruz, the popular libertarian who ran unsuccessfully for president in 2016, said Hagerty’s team has gone negative because they’re scared and that Sethi should take it as a compliment.

“I told him, ‘Listen, these ads, you ought to take as a compliment,’” Cruz said. “They’re running those ads for the same reason the government of China went after me (China recently sanctioned Cruz). Because they’re scared. The Washington swamp always tells you who they’re scared of.”

Sethi acknowledged this and told his supporters to stand strong over the next few weeks, saying Hagerty would “throw the kitchen sink” at them in trying to win.

So other than the anti-pc crap, where does Sethi stand on the wall? Budget? Trump in general? Sorry but Cruz and Paul support does nothing for me but raise red flags, because i think both of them are opportunist weasels.

Here is where you can get some of your answers:

https://www.drmannyforsenate.com/issues

It is my understanding that, when presented with questionnaires, Sethi answered completely. Hagerty did not.

Those who supposedly know them both say that Sethi is the more conservative.

I don’t know either one of them. I’m just going with what those who do know them both, and those who have met and talked with them both, are saying. (Also, I have been turned off by the late, very misleading ads from the Hagerty campaign. It’s ok to criticize your opponent’s views and record. Just do it accurately and honorably—not with an “end justifies the means” mentality.)

It's getting late here, and I have to get up early in the morning, or I would dig up more, but here is some partial info on the first of your questions (about the wall):

I support President Trump’s effort to build the wall, and support ICE. It simply isn’t right for people to illegally cross our borders unchecked or overstay their visas with no consequences. Giving benefits to those who come here illegally isn’t protecting the rule of law. We’re giving away our nation.

Do not buy the Hagerty smears, innuendos and outright lies. Hagerty is 100% Establican. Sethi is the overwhelming choice for informed constitutional conservatives. The following is from a recent email from one of Tennessee’s most diligent constitutional conservatives:

the names of these on the ground conservatives was just sent to me and I was told there is more to come:

President Donal J. Trump’s Key Campaign Advisors For the Presidential Campaign in 2015/2016 Who Support Manny Sethi for Senate:

Former State Senator and Delegation Caucus Chairman to the 2016 National Republican Convention, Mae Beavers and husband Jerry Beavers

State Director, 2015/2016 Tennessee Trump for President and Metro Nashville City Councilman Robert Swope

5th Tennessee Congressional District Co-chairman Rick Williams and Connie Hunter

Tennessee Trump Campaign Upper Cumberland leader, Owen Burnette

Trump East Tennessee Regional Coordinator, Robin Flenniken

Upper East Tennessee Trump Campaign Coordinator, Kay White

Lincoln County, Mary Tackett

West Tennessee Regional Chairman for Trump Campaign in Tennessee for 2015/2016, Joe Coury

It also appears that 90% of the County Coordinators for the 2015/2016 Trump Campaign Organization are also for Set

For more background on both Hagerty and Sethi, DailyRollCall.com has provided a number of detailed and documented articles. Suffice it to say that Hagerty does not show well in the light. Sethi, on the other hand, shines brighter.

We needed Lamar! to stop Gore back in 1984 for the Senate seat. He took a pass and let the state suffer for it. That he came back begging for a chance in 2002 over the excellent Congressman Ed Bryant still disgusts me (and cash-poor Bryant couldn’t get the other seat over liberal RINO Corker).

Hagerty is a lifelong establishment RINO and BushBot. He was deeply connected to Willard the Rat and El “Please Clap” Jebbe, and didn’t support Trump until AFTER El Jebbe’s candidacy was D.O.A.

Neither of them have immaculate bona fides. But Hagerty is a clear opportunist who has done precisely NOTHING for the Conservative movement in TN in his decades involved in politics. He’s like our RINO Governor Lee, just an empty suit.

Dr. Sethi is at least an outsider who has attracted excellent endorsements and he has personally met with countless people across TN who have come away with positive feelings about him. Hagerty, conversely, comes off as the opposite to the same people. He is scared to debate Sethi, which is a bad sign. He thinks he was coronated to this Senate seat and shouldn’t have to bother with meeting the people or campaigning at all. His ultra-negative attack ads have also put off countless voters.

I’m one of those who has met both of them - - Dr. Manny several times and Hagerty finally showed up once. I sat next to Hagerty during the dinner and listened to him talk and answer questions with canned answers. Three words kept going through my mind ..... snake oil salesman.

I was underwhelmed and most of the other 20 or so people who were there seemed to feel the same. Hardly anyone stuck around after the meal was finished.

Most of TN Senate, Cruz, have backed Sethi. Including retired State Reps and senators.

Hagerty is lucky to fill 50-60 seats, Sethi fills hundreds. I didn't author this piece, his contact is at the end.

Rick Williams‎ to Jefferson County Republican Party (TN) 4d

WHY I WILL NOT VOTE FOR BILL HAGERTY :

Although President Trump endorses Hagerty, I can not forget that during the Presidential Primary, Hagerty first supported Jeb Bush (a rino establishment Republican). After Bush dropped out, Hagerty then went to support pro-amnesty Rubio, and after Trump secures the nomination, he went over to Trump.

Hagerty worked for Gov. Haslam (the weak rino republican that never worked hard supporting his own party) as Commissioner of Economic and Community Development. Hagerty left leaving the state with a massive trade deficit and ensuing job loses to other countries like Mexico and China and left Tennessee more dependent on China.

Hagerty has increased his reputation as an establishment Republican by having “never Trumpers” and democrat staffers. His financial fund-raiser and advisor earned her reputation working for establishment republicans such as Corker, Haslam, Alexander, Fincher, Randy Boyd, etc. She also raised money for Democratic Mayors of Nashville : Convicted felon Megan Barry and David Briley. He has a long-standing affiliation with Mitt Romney and served as his national financial man in the 2012 Romney Presidential campaign. Tennessee became China’s most dependent US state following Hagerty’s tenure as Tennessee’s economic chief says the National Pulse. Hagerty earned a reputation as a globican along with Alexander, Bush, Romney and Mitch McConnell, who has endorsed Hagerty. McConnell has obstructed Trump on illegal immigration along with Trump’s emergency declaration on the border. His friend Romney sides with McConnell and Alexander most of the time. The US Chamber of Commerce just endorsed Hagerty. The Chamber is big on amnesty for illegals as were his other rino friends. The “Dailey Roll Call” says “Voter Ignorance is Hagerty’s strength”.

Hagerty just released a plan to bring jobs back to Tennessee when he spent his efforts earlier on losing jobs to China with a trade deficit. Hagerty maxed out giving contributions to Sen. McCain in mid-June,2016 when Trump and McCain were at the peak of their feud says the National Pulse. He also served on his transition team.

Hagerty served on the board of Directors of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, a leading book publisher of Common Core material for schools and was highly paid for it. This from The Insurgent.

TENNESSEE: it is time we stop electing moderate rinos to office and make sure this time we vote for a real conservative and that is not Hagerty. Remember you are known by the company you keep.

Jim W. Horner jwh1@cableone.net This is the best one article page I have found out there. If anyone wants to add to it. Please do.

Cruz walked the hallway like a pervert in Princeton, and; it was said his father was a party to the Kennedy murder. I am no fan of any 3rd world type in our Congress/local Gov. etc. We have a man who flew blackhawks /101st. What is wrong with him?
