I understand.
I am an electical engineer by trade/schooling. I served 27 years in the USMC. My mom and dad came to this country as children of immigrants. My dad fought in the Korean War. He was wounded twice and recovered in an Army hospital in Japan. Two Purple Hearts.
He wanted to continue his career in the Marines but was dischared when it was discovered he was the only son. If he died the family name would discontinue. This was a consideration back then.
He was told that due to his lack of formal education the
only option for him was Infantry or discharge. Due to his combat wounds he could no longer serve.
This never left him. He obsessed with us, his children, to obtain a college degree so we would have options he never had.

Arizona was a US Territory during the Civil War. Didn’t become a State until 1912. ....Not a player.

The vote comes as rioters have destroyed, defaced, and torn down historical monuments across the U.S. for more than two months.
To: timestax
Historical monument destruction has also been targeted at Catholic statues recently.

But will those same 72 House Republicans and Democrats vote to remove Democrat KKK Grand Kleagle Robert Byrd's statue from Congress ?
Since were banning controversial stuff, why not ban all images, name prints and statues of Democrat KKK Grand Kleagle Robert Byrd ?
Of course you never hear a peep of the old KKK racist Robert Byrd.
He was Democrat majority leader of the Senate before he went senile, and even has his statue in the halls of Congress.
The KKK Democrat Robert Byrd lasted as Democrat Senator for over 50 years, and voted against the civil-rights-act like a typical Democrat.
Whats more offensive ?
A KKK Grand Kleagle like Democrat Robert Byrd,
or a Confederate flag that was on top of the General Lee in the Dukes of Hazzard ?
Petitioning West Virginia Governor : To remove the name of the late Senator and Ku Klux Klan member Robert Byrd from the public space, road ways and government buildings (including schools).
Whats that you hear from leftist Democrats?
Thats called silence.
Democrats have the proud distinction of having the only known KKK Grand Kleagle in the Senate for over 50 years.
Democrats even voted Grand Kleagle Robert Byrd as their leader in the Senate for more than two decades.
Kleagle Robert Byrd was Democrat whip and leader in the 70s and 80s.
I guess we should remove any references to :
They will have to be removed by those FASCISTS, also.
After all, they either owned slaves, or defended slave owners.
What ?
They're DemocRATS and you don't want to touch them ?
What about William Jefferson Clinton, because he DEFENDED the Ku Klux Klan and Grand Kleagle Robert Byrd ?
Doesn't any reference to him have to be removed also ?
I guess we got to be
equal to all about this matter, and apply this nonsense equally.< /sarc>

I have been wondering about the exceptionally large number of statues, public buildings and military bases that have been named for confederate war participants. I don’t seem to hear very much about participants from the north unless it is in a movie or documentary.
After all, the south did lose the war. and normally it is the winner of conflicts that get all of the accolades. Yet, we have a nation very generously endowed with statues, military bases, school names, highways, street names, etc., all named for supporters of the confederacy.
Given the many years influence of a democratic political majority I think it may be fair to think that the memorials might be the democrat version of “participation trophies”.
Now that those trophies have become a threat of exposure of their past racism, they must be disappeared from history at any cost.

All 72 are idiots. Identify them as Democrat statue and blame the democrats as trying to cover up their racist past.

This was not a hill to die on. Like Rush said Thursday morning, send the statue of U. M. Rose, the founder of the Rose Law Firm to Chappaqua to place in the middle of the front yard of Slick and Hitlery.

The Tennessee capitol has a bust of Nathan Bedford Forrest, the founder of the KKK, in a prominent place.
