The internet is awash with conspiracy theories about President Trump and Ghislaine Maxwell. These theories dont claim that Trump was somehow involved in the despicable sex trafficking and other perversions of which Maxwell stands accused. Instead, they revolve around Trumps seemingly careless statement that he wishes Maxwell well.
What could that mean? If you take the time to think it through, what it means is that Trump is a very smart man.
The core story is simple. During a White House coronavirus briefing on Tuesday, a reporter had a question for Trump:
Since Ghislaine Maxwell is in prison, and a lot of people want to know if shes going to turn in powerful people I know youve talked in the past about Prince Andrew and youve criticized Bill Clintons behavior Im wondering, do you feel shes going to turn in powerful men? How do you see that working out?Trumps answer was minimalist. He acknowledged moving in some of the same circles as Maxwell and then wished her well:

Always trying to stick it to the Prez. Just another little snot nose.
Unbelievable. The President passes off a bland comment, staying above the fray — the article does a good job highlighting past examples of presidential opinions having unfortunate repercussions in criminal cases. And even as mild and bland as the president’s comment is (”I wish her well”), the Twitterverse still explodes with hatred and over-reaction.
It’s insane.
The take here is that Maxwell will be convicted, with nary a mention of Clinton, Prince Andrew etc. involved in sexual escapades with minors. The swamp protects the swamp.
I do get the impression — from people like Barbara Streisand — that Maxwell is awful and indefensible and has done terrible things, and that Trump is somehow unduly supportive of Maxwell.
Sounds like Hollywood expects Maxwell to go down without causing any real collateral damage to the people Hollywood cares about (Clintons, etc.).
We’ll see.
I don't expect this to go well for Ghislaine Maxwell.
Trump being sarcastic perhaps?
Imagine two other possibilities...one where he says, Shes an awful person and I hope to see her pay for her crimes, or, I have no opinion or comment...imagine the response in both cases. Trump played this well.
I didn’t doubt President Trump at all with his answer. Didn’t totally understand answer, obvious now but didn’t make the connection. The Nixon and Manson trial example is such an excellent point.
If President Trump had made a statement slamming her, the talking point from the left would be: “She must have some really damaging information about Trump to make him react in such an angry manner.”
Trump hopes she isnt murdered in jail by the Deep State and Rat party.
If I were her lawyer, I would request a 3rd party security camera in her cell.
I took his response to mean, Dont know, dont care.
Why risk getting all caught up in that show?
Another reason why we'll win. Their eye-bleeding hatred of Trump makes them stupid and irrational.
Their actions are motivated by insanity and hatred, which is exactly how you want your enemies to proceed.
He acknowledged moving in some of the same circles as Maxwell and then wished her well.
He must know what democrats were customers, some poll numbers may be a changing?.
