SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) - A 61-year-old woman was taken into custody after allegedly speeding down Interstate 15, and failing to stop for law enforcement, believing they "were giving her the go-ahead to continue traveling."

Louise Locke, 61, was arrested on charges of failing to stop or respond at the command of a police officer, a third-degree felony, and reckless driving, a misdemeanor, according to a probable cause affidavit.

A Utah Highway Patrol trooper spotted a silver Ford Mustang traveling 121 mph southbound on Interstate 15 at approximately 7:07 p.m.

The vehicle sped past several vehicles and was out of sight by the time the trooper started pursuing it.

She thought police were telling her to ‘Go ahead’?

Right.

BTW, I am 57 and can drive pretty darn fast. Just don’t want a ticket.

But we’ll race. It’ll be like Rebel Without a Cause! We just need a girl with a scarf to wave us towards the cliff!

LOL!

You and me both

I went over the Natchez Trace suicide bridge west of Franklin with my almost ex wife two years ago at 145.....in a 50

Nobody was around

Porsche 996

She still had another 35 mph left in her

Top down....soon to be ex wifey screaming at me ....bloody murder

It was glorious

I should have done that more often....I’ve owned four 911 body styles from 1972 -1984 whale tail- 1989 -2001 cabriolet and this last was the nest 25,000 I ever spent ...such fun and never any big problems

Put 100,000 miles on it and sold it for 12,000.....Michelin PS2 tires were biggest issue

It was supposed to be the ribs car but she was timid
High five!

That sort of speed might work fine between Provo and Cedar City on the I-15, I wouldn’t recommend it closer to SLC as the Mormon lane change dance is a complex phenomenon only partially understood by science.

Alternative excuse to judge. “My kids just kept yelling “more Mom” so I picked up the speed to shut them up”.

Actually any kids in her car would say, “Slow down Mom - we’re Mormons but don’t want to get to heaven this way”.

She needs a hearing aid and about 6 months in jail.

121 mph? Just a normal day in the left lane of the Autobahn here in Germany. She’d probably be passed by someone else as well.

I found this story to be interesting because I thought that most 61 year old women are “very responsible” drivers...Meaning that they would not drive at a very high speed...

About the auto insurance rates...I believe that a 61 year old woman would pay less than a 21 year man or woman...

I guess 40+ MPH over the limit is automatically reckless driving.

I agree, completely agree.

Once you’ve done it enough, you realize the only thing going fast gets you is tickets.

:)

She from Pasadena, by any chance?

And it's not as though she's really speeding; the limit on I-15 in Utah is 80mph.

DANG!

I've learned during my 50 plus years of driving (some pro truck driver), that speed is relative.

I have OFTEN increased my speed unwittingly because it just seemed and FELT like I was going slow.

I've never gone 120, but I can understand (if 15 is one of those lonely straight stretch type of roads) one can easily get up there and by God enjoy it.
