AG Barr: 35 agents coming to Albuquerque for Operation Legend
The Albuquerque Journal ^ | July 22, 2020 | Elise Kaplan

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — President Donald Trump and Attorney General William Barr announced that 35 federal agents and additional resources will be coming to Albuquerque as part of the expansion of Operation Legend in a handful of cities across the United States.

At a news conference in the White House on Wednesday, President Trump said the influx will be in cities where the leadership wants to “defund, defame or abolish” police.

“Under Operation Legend we will soon send fed law enforcement to other cities that need help,” Trump said. “Other cities need help, they need it badly. They should call, they should want it. They’re too proud or they’re too political to do that. One of them is Albuquerque, New Mexico.”

In advance of the announcement of Operation Legend coming to Albuquerque, city and state leaders denounced the plan.

The governor and attorney general said they will actively monitor the operation for any civil rights violations and urge anyone who is impacted to contact their offices.

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said if the Trump administration really wants to assist local law enforcement — with community policing activities and data-driven crime-fighting initiatives — it would welcome the conversation.

“If the Trump administration wishes to antagonize New Mexicans and Americans with authoritarian, unnecessary and unaccountable military-style ‘crackdowns,’ they have no business whatsoever in New Mexico,” Lujan Grisham wrote in a statement. “An exercise meant only to escalate tension in New Mexico communities would be flatly unacceptable.”

This will be interesting - not sure ABQ needs it as police force officer numbers are lower than necessary (but maybe due to recruiting problems) and we haven't had but one protest that got out of hand (Onate statue shooting) due to police letting protesters have free reign. Seems like more to tweek the governor, mayor and the lib radicals off than anything practical.

One of the speakers at the President’s Operation Legend presentation today was an elderly white gentlemen from Albuquerque, whose wife was murdered while sitting in her car inside her garage. She was on her way to the gym. He heard the horn on the car and thought she wanted him to come out. When he got to the garage, there was a car blocking her car in the driveway, and he saw a man run from the passenger’s side of her car, to the parked car. He got in and the car drove away. That was last fall. Her case is still unsolved. He said that Albuquerque’s crime rate is, and has been for a long time, very high. The percentage for solving homicide crimes in Albuquerque is 50%.

If the Trump administration wishes to antagonize New Mexicans and Americans ...

Are they mutually exclusive? WTF?

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham seems like a real leftard LOSER. She took an oath to protect the people of NM, and she is more interested in getting pats on the head for being a good ‘lil dummocrap than she is in fulfilling her oath. Typical piece of lying corrupt dummocrap garbage.

I'll rephrase my comment above - if the federal officers help with lowering the auto theft rate, solving the high rate of murders, and getting the gangs/drugs off the streets they will be useful. ABQ is already under a DOJ order requiring reforming internal affairs investigations, changes in department use of force policies, officer training and changes in other areas of policing.

Democrat and lib Mayor Keller has proposed other changes, including mental health and social worker intervention response to non-violent situations. How well that will work remains to be seen, but this graphic provides how it is supposed to work:

Me, in college, calling older brother in Atlanta: “Hi bro, Can you wire me some money? My car broke down.”

Older brother: “Sure, little bro. Where are you?”

Me: “Las Vegas . . .”

Older brother: “Really?! That’s not so bad.”

Me: “ . . . New Mexico.”

Older brother: “Oh.”

AG Barr:

Look at the shiny quarter I have as I ignore the biggest crimes in U.S. history.

...and also Barr’s physical appearance and demeanor is that of a very unhealthy individual. He has serious, deep lying issues and should be nowhere near the job he holds.

Bad on you, Mr. President. Hopefully you will get a non eunuch as AG if you win a second term. We have seen what the country looks like with no AG and it is not pretty.

Las Vegas, New Mexico is where the original Red Dawn movie was filmed back in the 80s.

"That’s stellar compared to Chicongo at 10%."

I'm surprised that Chicago's is even at 10%. Can you imagine what the workload must be for those Detectives? They can't possibly have enough to properly handle what gets thrown their way. It must be an extremely frustrating, and depressing job.

I used to watch “The First 48” on A&E. It was a good show, and it showed the frustration of the detectives who tried to gather evidence, and help from the people in the neighborhood who had more than likely witnessed the murders. Nobody was willing to talk, yet they expected the police to keep them safe. Getting info from witnesses was like trying to get teeth from a hen...and hens don’t have teeth. I spent 25 years in Corrections in NY State’s prison system. No way could I have ever been a street cop or Detective. In these Democrat-run cities, morale in those police departments has to be so low, it can’t get any lower.
