I looked up the oath of office for state of Washington, and it says, I — swear to uphold the Constitution of the United states, the laws of the state of Washington and to faithfully discharge the duties of this office to the best of my ability. Has to be signed, notarized and duly filed on record. Fair to assume similar oath in every state.

Even if without the feds, these do-nothing mayors and governors could also be sued by all who lost property, were injured or lost family members, for damages, on that basis. And no taxpayers should cover these damages.

If there's no remedy there, those same mayors and governors can be charged with federal crimes from immigration law, specifically; knowingly harboring illegal aliens....complete with some very harsh penalties.
