Several Cleveland Indians players met with the team's ownership on Tuesday to discuss changing the name of the team, following the decision by Washington's NFL team to change its name.
In addition to the players and team owner Paul Dolan, manager Terry Francona, president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti and general manager Mike Chernoff were also all involved in the dialogue, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported.
I was really, really happy and content to just sit there and let them talk back and forth, Francona said. Its one of the reasons that I speak so glowingly of our organization. Today was another reason why.
He added: Sometimes perspectives can be different and its good for everybody to hear that. ... Everybody was so genuinely honest, but also respectful in the way they gave their opinions. I was really proud of everybody.

Unfortunately, it’s not about those tribal members. It’s about ingratiating the prevailing Marxism that aims to dull the senses and eradicate the unique qualities of America’s heritage.
Death to Marxism in America.

The term is properly "American Indian".
The word "Indian" came from the mistaken belief by Christopher Columbus that he had landed in the country of India.
Therefore, no matter how the "American" natives pronounce it, or how they or anyone else justifies it, it's still not worth making a stinking deal about a name which they didn't know about before Columbus.

The word "Indian" came from the mistaken belief by Christopher Columbus that he had landed in the country of India. (like I never heard that one before)
Oh, did he speak English? How long did it take him to figure out his mistake? Are you sure he didn't think it was Indiana?
At least he didn't think it was the East Indies.
I'll bet the Queen was pissed.
I suppose the next thing you'll tell me is that the conquistadors had priests baptize the natives just before they executed them, so their souls would go to heaven.
And if that's the case, why aren't the Native American Indians going out of their minds, raging against Frank Vasquez and Spain, instead of poor old Columbus the sailor-man?

Changing the team's name from Injuns won't be enough to satisfy the racist race hustlers as Grover Cleveland opposed Lincoln's war and honored ex-Confederates by appointing them to high offices, including a Supreme Court Justice. So the team will need to relocate to Utopiaville, Ohio if the city won't change its name as well.
