Mandated Diversity Training
American Thinker.com ^ | July 21, 2020 | Eileen F. Toplansky

Most schools and businesses mandate that their employees take a "Diversity: Inclusion in the Modern Workplace" (EDU) online training course. Under the umbrella of compassion for all, it is a well-crafted collection of leftwing radical propaganda. Thus, one learns that "[a]n identity transition describes the process of shifting from a central identity and its associated beliefs and behaviors to the integration of another identity, e.g., a formerly childless person finds out they [sic] are going to become a parent."

Sounds innocent enough. And then the program turns to intersectionality which "builds on the idea of multiple identities by viewing them within their social and historical contexts of power, privilege, and discrimination, [emphasis mine] i.e., a young white woman may experience sexism because of her gender. And though she may share a 'female identity' with an Hispanic woman who is 62 years old and disabled, she would not share the added experiences of racism, ageism, and ableism by virtue of the race, age and disability."

The unsuspecting reader has been subtly led to believe that being white is problematic because she is guilty of having privilege.

Under "Workplace Identity Negotiations," Racial Identity-based Impression Management (RIM) is a process whereby individuals negotiate the way they look, act, and speak 'in order to influence perceptions of racial identity group membership and characteristics.'" Thus, "in a 2014 study about the work experiences of Asian American journalists, researchers identified four central strategies of RIM: Avoidance, Enhancement, Affiliation, and Racial Humor."

In such vagueness does the Left prosper and become ubiquitous. Turgid titles and ambiguous meaning rule the day.

Now the Diversity Introduction program anticipates a counterargument while imperceptibly pushing its agenda as it asks:

I retired last December from the corporate world, where these online training courses were required as a condition of employment. I am so happy to no longer be subjected to the "White privilege" humiliation imposed by the corporate rulers.

I can only imagine it's much worse now compared to just a few months ago.

Conflict is part of the human condition. Where none exists it must be created.

I wish there was a silver bullet for this, but there isn’t. Some people are able to start their own businesses and have greater control over their workplaces. Other people may be fortunate to find a small business where there is a traditional workplace culture. However, others have spent their lives learning a profession and can only be employed by large and progressive companies. Ideally, the best business would be one you own, has no customers, very few vendors, and has limited employees that you can select. Oh, and one last thing, makes plenty of profit.

My son works as contract employee for a large tech company.

They recently had an online “conference” on BLM and systemic racism.

Later anyone who spoke up and did not absolutely regurgitate the Pravda was,
fired.

Change one word (collect --> remove) and you have the oldest profession.

Wow! Just wow. That gives a glimmer of hope. We need more companies like this, although it would be nice to see companies that make products that you simply don't pee away in a few hours. Tangible products made of metal and steel. Engineered for a lifetime of meaningful use. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Red Bull. I just choose to drink tap water.

I left the Boy Scouts of America a couple years ago over their insanity. But since the George Floyd imbroglio they are making all of their volunteers and paid staff take one of these “white man bad” classes starting this year. As hard as it was to get volunteers a while back, I can’t imagine how hard it’ll be now that I’d have to say, “Thanks for volunteering your time. Now watch this video on how you are an evil sonofabitch”.

More people will seek self-employment.

If we are having diversity training, shouldn’t we be having unity training?

When I hear diversity and inclusion I understand that it means accept hostile, substandard coworkers.

I worked for a local company that had been around for 116 years. In the last ten it had become insufferably PC. HR had fallen for every lickspittle “diversity” con job. They seemed determined to seek out and destroy discrimination - even where none existed. They would destroy the evil discrimination even if they took down the company in the process.

I finally gave up in disgust and announced my retirement. They had succeeded in wringing every ounce of care and interest in the place.

Every so often I look at job postings at linkedin - but honestly as much as I’d like to stay busy, I have zero interest in subjecting myself to any more of that crap.

When I was a young man that would have been the ideal profession for me, except I was butt ugly and couldn’t get any customers.
