I’m kind of with the players on that one. They started charging for autograph sessions only because collectors were making fortunes selling autographed memorabilia.

Former Yankee great Don Mattingly was an interesting exception, from what I’ve heard. He made a number of paid appearances at card/memorabilia shows, but then the organizers stopped inviting him after a while. It turns out he was so generous in signing his autograph for free outside the shows that the collectors couldn’t make any money on it. LOL.

That’s fine with you, okay. But it is not with me. A player making hundreds or thousands or even many millions of dollars simply because they can throw a ball wanting $100 or more a pop just for their signatures? What better example of greed can one see as an eleven or twelve year old? Sending the wrong kind message to youngsters today who need someone to look up to IMHO. What happened to the image of the hero? Players show they are only in it for the almighty dollar and not for the love of the game. Sorry! The pro sports players of today can just KMA.
