Major League Baseball came out in defense of players who knelt during the national anthem on Monday evening, taking on critics and tweeting in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. As Breitbart News reported, several members of the San Francisco Giants took a knee during the playing of the Star-Spangled Banner during a preseason game hosted by the Oakland Athletics before an empty stadium filled with cardboard cutouts. The Giants proudly tweeted out the protest: https://twitter.com/SFGiants/status/1285405863478390784?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1285405863478390784%7Ctwgr%5E&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com%2Fsports%2F2020%2F07%2F20%2Fmajor-league-baseball-defends-anthem-kneeling-supports-black-lives-matter%2F Amidst much criticism online, the leagues Twitter account began defending the protest and issued tweets in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. https://twitter.com/MLB/status/1285398301022486528?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1285398301022486528%7Ctwgr%5E&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com%2Fsports%2F2020%2F07%2F20%2Fmajor-league-baseball-defends-anthem-kneeling-supports-black-lives-matter%2F The league is set to launch a 60-game season later this week, shortened because of the coronavirus pandemic. That’s fine with you, okay. But it is not with me. A player making hundreds or thousands or even many millions of dollars simply because they can throw a ball wanting $100 or more a pop just for their signatures? What better example of greed can one see as an eleven or twelve year old? Sending the wrong kind message to youngsters today who need someone to look up to IMHO. What happened to the image of the hero? Players show they are only in it for the almighty dollar and not for the love of the game. Sorry! The pro sports players of today can just KMA.
Agree. MLB had a chance to be a standout and be the one sport that didn’t drink the koolaid.
Suckers.
The game was not on ESPN. Some obscure channel I was not even aware of. To what network are you referring?
Your obscure channel is being carried by one of the large conglomerates (AT&T, etc.) that's licensed it to broadcast worldwide. They'd like for everyone to think Black Lives MatterTM has worldwide support but it's a hoax controlled from a small corporate boardroom.

It was a black player on the field who staged the protest after scoring a goal.
This is in Turkey. If it’s being promoted by anyone it has to be FIFA, the world governing body of soccer.
FIFA is 100% beholden to the television contracts. FIFA hasn't called their own shots in decades.
I gave up baseball after the second strike. My decision was cemented when Yankee Stadium was bulldozed for a “new” Yankee Stadium. Sacrilege.
Football was next. One simply does not “kneel” during the playing of our National Anthem. Period.
NASCAR has been on my personal “critical list” for a long time. The racing is boring. The top drivers are whiny little kids who’s personalities negate their skills.
Since the garage door pull incident, NASCAR is dead to me.
I am still interested in our local minor league baseball team, but not to the point where I’d actually attend a game.
In short, political correctness has destroyed sports for me.
I can just as easily read a book as watch a sporting event on TV. Reading is more beneficial, as I learn something in the process.
Good-bye, sports.
Got to dig out the croquet set.
Put up the basketball goal end of the driveway.
Badminton net,too.
Back to family and neighbors friendly games.
Paying to watch millionaires play just never made sense to me.
“Paying to watch millionaires play just never made sense to me.”
MONEY QUOTE!
The responses by MLB found in the Breitbart article are those of someone who has no knowledge of patriotism, the American flag, or military service. These pampered athletes and their marketers have never served our country, which has paid them excessively well for playing a game.
Eight two years old, a veteran, and a baseball fan for 75 years, I say farewell to America’s game, which no longer represents America.
I totally agree but the citizens of these cities voted overwhelmingly to do it!!!
There is no differance in the politics!!!
Don’t leave out Pee Wee Reece!!!!
You’re right, Diz & Pee Wee.
Nice way to kill an already virtually dead sport.
So let it be written, so let it be done.
I’m with you! I have season tickets, but if I see any of that Marxist nonsense being pushed down our throats, I’ll be done with them too.
From a fellow veteran, I agree with you 100%. These spoiled, pompous athletes wouldn’t know the first thing about service to country. I’m about to turn 60. My dad started bringing me to baseball games in 1966. I have loved this game ever since, but it has been ruined.
It’s so sad, but I can definitely find better uses for my time than to watch a bunch of mouthy prima donna millionaires complain about how much injustice they’ve faced, or how oppressed they are.
This obsession with identity politics has ruined so many things. We should remember that the flag and the anthem are important symbols of that which we have in common. We are not hyphenated Americans. We are Americans!
Respect the flag. Respect the anthem. Respect this great country. ALL lives matter!
