WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump declined to say the Confederate flag was an offensive symbol in an interview broadcast on Sunday, saying it is a source of pride for people who love the South.
The Republican president was asked on Fox News Sunday, if the flag, considered a symbol of slavery and oppression by most Americans, was offensive.
.....,....Snip..........
"It depends on who youre talking about, when youre talking about, Trump responded. When people proudly had their Confederate flags theyre not talking about racism. They love their flag, it represents the South. They like the South ... I say its freedom of many things, but its freedom of speech.

The reference to the flag is the Battle Flag.
Not the First, Second or third National flags. Not even the Bonnie Blue Flag.
this is costing him black votes, not that he had many-was 7%, now down to 6% -!% in swing states can be the difference-not smart politics
Partisan Media Shills update.
As you almost certainly know your screen-name can get you in trouble!!!! (My screen-name and tagline can get me in trouble with some liberals, leftists, and globalists.)
ALL lives matter!!!! (Even that sentence has gotten people fired or even killed!)
All Lives Matter!!!!

correct
“It depends.” says Trump. In addition to Southern Pride, it is also a symbol of rebellion. Think Hell’s Angels. It is also a symbol of racism. Think of that bastard who killed the elders of a black church in South Carolina.
Most people of every large people-group are decent people. Some among every large people-group are weak or ignorant or just in a bad place financially, but can be disciplined and, with a second chance, join the first group. A very small number are evil and must be removed from the population (taking care to follow due process).
As a conservative, we look to law and order to protect the innocent, discipline those who can turn their lives around, and remove evil from among us.
Radicals deny the very existence of good and evil or else call evil good. At this time, because of the radical agenda, our country is in trouble. We don’t know how this will turn out. But, one thing’s for sure, God will not be mocked.
As a kid growing up in Texas we called it the “Rebel Flag”, and that’s exactly how we Viewed it as a protest flag.
Trump will get 12 to 15% of the black vote regardless of his comments on the Confederate flag. Those who care about it weren’t voting for him anyway.
The ONLY issue I have with his answer is that he never acknowledges that it does bother some people. And his personal position on it is irrelevant. As the President he cannot go banning symbols that people use in their personal lives.
I never understood why the American Flag wasnt good enough for southerners. But I would never say they did not have the right to fly whatever they want.
I don’t know about AEI or Cato, but to my mind, Heritage is the biggest fraud in a long time. Back in the 80s a friend urged me to join and contribute, but I decided to watch a while and see what they ACCOMPLISHed And I’m still waiting. I’m not aware of anything they’ve done in all these years that amounted to a bleep. Just taking in donations and an occasional empty claim of undefined victory.
It is the battle flag, not the National flags of the Confederacy.
Australia still honors the one hour Eureka Rebellion and flag while Canada still honors the Metis rebellion with statues of Louis Riel, hanged for treason and murder.
But the Confederate Battle flag, from a four year long slugfest, still gets no respect from the snowflakes.
The design is so well liked it is used in variations by other nations, usually without the stars.

And here is one even a commie should love.
And The Donald is totally right. Let people just fly their flags... that's America.
I am ready to just start flying the confederate flag and for no other reason than the military is banning it. Fyi, I have no family connection with the south as I was born in the north.
The criminal leftists who continue to demand complete subservience to its demands are simply causing me to punch back twice as hard.

Nimrata Rhandawa - that’s the real name of “Nikki Haley” - is the primary instigator of all this crap we see unfolding around us having to do with protesting American heritage and tearing down statues and other wokester mayhem. She started it all when she was the Republican governor of South Carolina and caved in to the whining and screaming of the Marxocrat wokesters who demanded that the rebel flag be banned from the state capitol. She was an utter azzhole about the Marxocrat protests and gave her own Republican constituents the middle finger because she was raised by Indian immigrant parents who didn’t have a clue about southern heritage or American history. It is beyond disgusting and deeply disheartening that skunks like her are always elevated by the RINO GOPe to positions of influence to betray the very people who make their political power possible. Their ongoing capitulation to the Marxocrat forces of evil over decades is why we are staring Civil War 2.0 in the face.
Trump is I. Good company. Love our President.

Dear Dr. Scott:
Respecting your August 1 inquiry calling attention to my often expressed admiration for General Robert E. Lee, I would say, first, that we need to understand that at the time of the War between the States the issue of secession had remained unresolved for more than 70 years. Men of probity, character, public standing and unquestioned loyalty, both North and South, had disagreed over this issue as a matter of principle from the day our Constitution was adopted.
General Robert E. Lee was, in my estimation, one of the supremely gifted men produced by our Nation. He believed unswervingly in the Constitutional validity of his cause which until 1865 was still an arguable question in America; he was a poised and inspiring leader, true to the high trust reposed in him by millions of his fellow citizens; he was thoughtful yet demanding of his officers and men, forbearing with captured enemies but ingenious, unrelenting and personally courageous in battle, and never disheartened by a reverse or obstacle. Through all his many trials, he remained selfless almost to a fault and unfailing in his faith in God. Taken altogether, he was noble as a leader and as a man, and unsullied as I read the pages of our history.
From deep conviction, I simply say this: a nation of men of Lees calibre would be unconquerable in spirit and soul. Indeed, to the degree that present-day American youth will strive to emulate his rare qualities, including his devotion to this land as revealed in his painstaking efforts to help heal the Nations wounds once the bitter struggle was over, we, in our own time of danger in a divided world, will be strengthened and our love of freedom sustained.
Such are the reasons that I proudly display the picture of this great American on my office wall.
Sincerely,
Dwight D. Eisenhower

During the 80’s, trucks driving in New York City regularly had Confederate flags on the truck grills. Didn’t bother anyone...
So Mr President, rescind the DoD order banning the Confederate flag by omission. Get your Pentagon under control at least a bit before your term ends please!
