Michelle Zymet has seen the coronavirus spread through her family.
As South Floridians eat at restaurants, shop for groceries and try to live normal lives during the pandemic, many are bringing coronavirus back home, spreading it to family members before their symptoms arise.
As many as 80% of the Broward County residents who got COVID-19 in recent weeks likely caught it from someone they live with, according to the state Department of Health.
People need to know that even within their own families they have to social distance, said Broward Mayor Dale Holness.
Some of the spread within South Florida households may be attributed to children and young adults who make up a growing proportion of coronavirus cases but tend not to show symptoms.
Nowhere to run When Dwayne Bennett tested positive, he self-isolated in his bedroom to stop the virus from racing through his Fort Lauderdale home. Still, his wife Wanda caught the virus. Bennett, 39, suffered coughs, chills and body aches. His wife has a cough, body aches and has lost her sense of smell.
So how did the virus invade their home? Bennett manages an entertainment business and came into contact with clients who later tested positive. He and his wife have a 21-year-old daughter who works from home and a 19-year-old daughter who works in a restaurant. Yes, the kids could have brought it in. They could have been exposed but there is no telling, he said.

Lemme guess...protestors.
Uh, yes. Why would anyone believe otherwise??
Nope. Breathing is more than sufficient to generate microaerosols and expel them. So is talking (the vocal cords could almost be deliberately designed to generate droplets).
Of course, sneezing and coughing also do a good job, but they are by no means the only mechanism.
I could post half a dozen references on the above, but I have already posted those several times.
Yes, which is why the longer exposure times of someone LIVING IN YOUR HOUSE increases the possibility of transmission.
Thanks - those are improvements over my usual “hmmm” & “yeah”
First of all do not ever believe anything from the Sun Sentinel or the Miami Herald which prints a spanish version of its lies. This is a democrat rag with zero credability an is so bad they have to give it away every 2-3 days you find copies of there lies in all 307 driveways of our hoa. They lie like a trained dog. I am giving bets at 2 to 1 that 2 days after the November election and Trump wins again ( Please god let him win to finish this dc cesspool ) all this bs ends . As to Fauci he is the mayor of the swamp fire his ass.....never trust anyone who has been in government for more than 6 months......the swamp needs to be abolished....Funny thing Musk gets a reusable rocket into space and back with 5000 less people than NASA further proof the government can not do anything right......got tested yesterday what a idiots delight trying to hear instructions with a mask on and closed windows from a person with a mask on they had a conniption fit when I rolled down the window 4 inches so I could hear them an then the possibly medical trained numb skull went digging for gold down my throat. Let the Guard run the whole show the jerks from Memorial need to go back to mopping the floors over there....
Or among Fearper Karens.
This
Also true.
No empirical evidence the young folks with no symptoms are those spreading infections in families. Guesses, not evidence.
Great advice that i follow every day....or at least i try..
LOL. Ask any family who has had a daycare or elementary school rugrat bring home every illness that their school companions have. It happens.
“LOL. Ask any family who has had a daycare or elementary school rugrat bring home every illness that their school companions have. It happens.”
It does not happen with the Wuhan Virus, Sweden knows, or they would have closed their schools, which they did not.
K-12 kids (a) don’t get infected as easily as adults, (b) tend to remain asymptomatic for a couple weeks, or a mild illness for a couple weeks, before they clear the virus. Their viral load appears to be very limited, and all studies have shown they are not big spreaders of THIS virus. Schools have been open throughout this virus’ season. The death toll in Sweden of kids with the virus is 1.
Sorry. Covid is no different in its spreading characteristics than any other virus, just more virulent. Kids are notorious germ carriers. You say they don’t...SHOW ME THE DATA!
You totally miss the point....THEY BRING THE DAMNED ILLNESS HOME and expose more vulnerable age groups. They may never get sick....they just make others sick.
Which is precisely why older teachers are retiring or just simply leaving teaching in droves rather than go back to “in-class” instruction.
“You totally miss the point....THEY BRING THE DAMNED ILLNESS HOME and expose more vulnerable age groups. They may never get sick....they just make others sick.”
There is no proof of it, and in nations like Sweden that kept K-12 schools open they have not seen it. What they have seen is parents getting the bug somewhere in THEIR contacts, bringing it home, and SOME of their own kids getting infected. But even then, the kids (1) do not get a bad illness, and (b) do not usually pass the virus to other kids or adults. The reason is VIRAL LOAD. Kids don’t seem to get a very high viral load, which accounts for how few get infected and how few get very ill. With a low viral load they remain less infectious to others.
Yes, in terms of kids, this version of corona virus IS NOT acting like other versions of the corona virus.

A silent spreader creeping into homes.
Joe Biden
As I said...show me the DATA, not a nebulous quote like “Sweden did it”. Did the Swedes do contract tracing?? I have seen no evidence that they did.

You can do contact tracing or not. The case numbers are what tells the tale, and the case numbers in Sweden do not reflect the concept that the kids spread the virus very well. The same vulnerable people across the globe are the same vulnerable people in Sweden. What is the death rate (deaths per million) in Sweden today - a statistical zero. And in the U.S. which kept the schools closed - 7%.
