The country group Lady Antebellum announced in June that it would change its name to “Lady A,” a move that upset Seattle blues singer Anita White, who has been using the name for decades.
“I began using the name back in the late ’80s,” Lady A told The Kyle Olson Show this week.
Lady Antebellum, in an attempt to shed its name’s link to slavery, simply adopted “Lady A.”
“This is what happens when privilege wants to be woke,” Lady A said, “but really doesn’t know how.”
“In your being woke, you can’t go from Lady Antebellum to Lady A and think there’s a difference,” she said.
Lady A alleged Lady Antebellum, and singer Hillary Scott, are not putting “power behind” their words after the two entities had a conversation via Zoom.

Why? Considering the whole competition-pride-vanity-pretension soup where this catfight erupted, I note that when you look quickly, it reads as "Potbelly."
The Antebellum era gave us socialism, Marxism and the Democrat Party, so if you’re “woke,” why would you find the term objectionable?
Black singers matter. Especially those who have traded on a name for a period of years.
That might work if you're "woke," since the Postbellum era produced anarcho-syndicalism, Progressivism and Bolshevism.

Change it to “Josey and the Pussy Hats!”
OR...they could say that they are “peacenicks” and call themselves “Lady Anti-Bellum”.
She’s milking this for money and publicity.
They need a fully different name, but settle on something quick!
Lady Antebellum may prevail in a court of law, but they will be eviscerated in the court of public opinion.
This is all nonsense, just like with the Nascar nonsense. Catering to a small, but vocal minority, that don’t even make up your fan base.
Lady Redskins might work.

Lady A (the original) should change her name to Lady Antebellum and switch to country, put out a few CD’s and maybe make a bit purely off name recognition. LOL
