A Pandemic of Democrat Proportions
american thinker ^ | 7/16/2019 | michael mueller

The most virulent scourge affecting the United States today is not the Wuhan coronavirus; rather, it’s the politicization of the pandemic by leftist Democrats to remove a duly elected President. History has never witnessed a more concerted effort to negate the will of the American electorate. Donald J. Trump has endured this unprecedented onslaught of vitriol, hate, and falsehoods perpetrated by leftist Democrat politicians, mainstream propagandists, and liberal progressives. Consequently, the government has been at a virtual standstill as Democrats inflict one manufactured crisis after another on the American people with the goal of removing the President.

Case in point, the U.S. response to the Wuhan coronavirus has been gratuitously overblown. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the current infection fatality rate for the virus is less than 0.26%. The inordinate response to the virus resulted in the contraction of a once robust economy by 5% during the first quarter of 2020 thus ending the longest period of economic expansion in our nation’s history. An unemployment rate under 4%, the best in half a century, jumped to over 13% in a matter of weeks. Six months after the first U.S. case of coronavirus was identified in Washington state, the country still languishes in a state of limbo between opening the economy and keeping the economy shut down.

This irrational response to a virus lethal to only a small segment of Americans, was meticulously orchestrated. In August 2019, Democrats first realized their best hope of beating Donald Trump in 2020 was a recession. Not just an economic downturn; but, a full-fledged, violent contraction of the mighty U.S. economy with all of its commensurate baggage including massive unemployment. Democrats understood Americans could not be compelled to vote for a party bereft of tangible ideas unless the country was

Except they’re neither liberal or progressive. They’re extremely intolerant, and want to regress back to the good old days of serfs ruled by feudal lords.

The will of the American people is defined by those who assert it and can defend their assertion.

“History has never witnessed a more concerted effort...”

Gotta tell ya all: I’ve never witnessed a larger group of compliant ‘kitty-kats’ than I have here. I stand alone in civil disobedience on this mask fraud. It’s pathetic.

The lack of cohesion ENSURES that Trump will be defeated electorally.

I am beyond words frustrated at the compliant little conservative bitches who wear their masks so as just to not cause any trouble.

If Trump loses in November, the blame lies with republicans and faux conservatives. Period.

From the article: "In response to the infection uptick, many local governments mandated the wearing of masks in public despite knowing that no face mask can completely filter out all coronavirus virions, which range in size from 0.06 to 0.14 microns in diameter. One study concluded cotton face coverings block only 28% of particles, surgical masks capture 80%, and a fit-tested N95 mask can block up to 99.7% of particles. If the goal is to protect the public from coronavirus infection, wouldn’t mandating the wearing of N95 masks in public be more effective? Of course, it would; but, N95 masks are reserved for healthcare professionals. "

The point of the mask is to reduce the viral load. A small droplet can have a million or 100 million virus particles. It takes generally takes 1000 or more to get infected. Stopping droplets is more important, although they can enter your eyes and there are 1000's of droplets in a sneeze or cough or even created by singing. And from those numbers it is obivous that just one droplet can infect.

But you get the feeling the author doesn't understand viral load, and the job of the mask is to reduce it. Not eliminate it.

I wear them because they are helpful. The help might be small but it is nonzero. Trump needs a stronger economy to win reelection. Masks help the economy.

You do not stand alone. Moreover a good many who comply, though it may not appear as such, are on your side as well. It may take a little longer to assess the nature and extent of viral efficacy from a medical standpoint. It is not as though the world has never faced serious pandemics. It is a first for us, however, inasmuch as we have “benefit” of nearly instantaneous communication on a broad scale, coupled with a population largely lacking in critical thinking skills.

“Masks help the economy.”

I STRONGLY-disagree.

I work in a business-to-business environment and masks make communicating effectively an impossible chore. From my perspective it’s removed the human dimension almost entirely.

If you follow the media’s shift to “cases” it is evidence to my argument. Prediction: The ONLY effect masks and the corollary fear will have is prolonging the pain right into November...the POLAR OPPOSITE of that which you propose.

That’s where I’m going to stop and I will not reply further to your comment because it might get me zotted.

“Masks help the economy.”

Only the people making and selling them.

Only the people making and selling them.

Definitely. But probably not "only". There is evidence they help.

That is unfortunate. I visited RI and at the outdoor farm market they required face coverings. (I don't believe masks are necessary outdoors) But some vendors had transparent plastic shields and could smile at their customers. They probably got more business.

“There is evidence they help.“

Only to make you feel better about yourself. NEJAMA says they’re useless outside of a clinical setting.

NEJAMA says they’re useless outside of a clinical setting.

No, that's a throwaway line in a NEJM artcle. Not a paper, not a study, only five references, and those aren't about masks.

Hardly a “throwaway line”.

“We KNOW that wearing a mask outside healthcare facilities offers little if any protection from infection.” It’s the first line in the bloody article.

If you want to wear one, be my guest. But don’t demand I do so just to make you feel “safe”.

There are five references, none about masks. The line does not have a reference, nor do the references support the line.

Where's the data to support that line? Where's the stufy with the data? Where''s any stufy of masks in that article? It's not a paper in any case, more like a medical op-ed.
