Well especially if they wanted to encircle Israel.
The Nile is west of Israel however.
Look at Turkey and what they are currently doing to the Euphrates & Tigris.

Well, not the Nile. It would have to be the Euphrates from Turkey to Iraq (roughly). Israel is to the north-east. Still, it bears watching Libya and Sudan in that area.
