I rode one from Ft. Jackson, SC to Dallas, Tx when I left the army in 1977. First leg, the driver was drunk or high. The second leg was long and crowded. It was a very interesting slice of humanity....

I took a lot of bus rides when I was a kid. Rode from L.A. up to Idaho when I was 13 or 14 by myself—different times.

Anyway, the worst was a trip from Phoenix to L.A. There was a kid in back attempting to play a song on his guitar. Over and over again. He would play until he hit the wrong note. Then start over. He was a determined soul and must have tried 100 times—never finishing the tune.
