Butler County, in Ohio, Sheriff Richard Jones announced he would not enforce the health department’s mask mandate:

The mandate says that people must wear a mask indoors, but not a residence. People must wear a mask outdoors if they cannot social distance.
Jones insisted he and the deputies will not enforce the mandate. He also pleaded with people not to call 911 if they spot people not wearing a mask:
“It’s totally out of control. It should be left up to the individual if they want to wear a mask. If someone is sick, I can understand the mask-wearing. But for all of us to have to have your temperature taken, to have to wear a mask – where is it going to stop?” Jones said.

He told me that he hates this stuff. And yes, it does bother him.
A local coffee shop has a sign on their front door saying basically that they aren’t an enforcement agency for the government, they are a business. They encourage following safety guidelines but again they are not an enforcement agency.
We’ll be going back to support them.

When I tell people I cannot understand them from behind a mask, they gleefully rip it off.
OTOH, this morning I saw an ad for a mask w/a clear plastic insert over the central portion. OK, that allows lip reading, but it still muffles and isn’t plastic hard to breathe thru?
Nah. He won’t get reprimanded. The state order does not carry a penalty. As much as I like Jones this is just grandstanding. But still very useful. I wish he would have said. “Our delightful Governor has decreed we should where mask but he lacks the conviction of his words and has also decreed there is no penalty for violating his former decree. In deed our Emperor Has NO Clothes.
Now Ohio has the spectacle of every county and city doing whatever they feel like. DuhWhine is almost as bad as Kaysick. I miss Strickland (the gov not the senator). Don’t agree with him but he was not sanctimonious or whiney.

Being a duly elected Sheriff there is little anyone can do to him. About all that can be done is maybe reduce his operating budget but that act could easily explode in the County Commissioners faces if they tried it but that is about all that could happen if I'm not mistaken. A Sheriff is a pretty powerful elected position to occupy.
Practically he is only accountable to people who vote for him and answers only to the County Commissioners Court and then they cannot fire or discipline him. Maybe reprimand him but even that is within a limited scope but I believe that's about it. Support your local Sheriff.

Abbott said today that if Texans refuses to mask up per his dictatorial orders he will shut the state down again. He does that and I go to work full time working to get his liberal azz recalled from office. I for one have had about enough of his liberal sh*t. I’m retired and have a lot of spare time to work on the effort have a good bit of experience at helping politicians get elected to office over two decades.
He truly is an evil man! I don’t believe his orders to shut the government down will be obeyed this time.
Frankly, Abbott needs to be impeached and the State RNC better get to him quick telling him he is on the verge of destroying the State GOP! I never could have believed a GOP governor could act in such a cowardly, tyrannical way, being held hostage to the opinions of the medical quacks he has around him.
