For crime stories, the Bee mentions race ifbperp is Latino, Asian, white, middle eastern, but says nothing if perp is black. Seems racist to me..
They won’t be mentioning race too often then :-)
One of the big papers in NJ was doing this years ago (when people read newspapers), and it had the opposite effect - if there was no picture, readers assumed the perp was black.
It is called confirmation biased... emotional decision makers subconsciously seek out results that confirm their world view rather than evaluate the data and make decisions from there:
Then you will know by lack of mention of race what the race is.
