Colin Kaepernick took to Twitter on Independence Day to deliver a strong rebuke to the celebration of the nations founding.
According to Kaepernick, America has dehumanized, brutalized, criminalized + terrorized blacks for centuries. He further called the celebrations commemorating the nations founding a celebration of white supremacy.
Black ppl have been dehumanized, brutalized, criminalized + terrorized by America for centuries, & are expected to join your commemoration of independence, while you enslaved our ancestors. We reject your celebration of white supremacy & look forward to liberation for all. ✊🏾 pic.twitter.com/YCD2SYlgv4

Kaepernick, the NFLs original anthem protester, has not played in the NFL since the end of the 2016 season. After a long legal battle with the NFL, in which he accused the league of blackballing him and fellow protester Eric Reid, the NFL eventually settled the suit with Kaepernick. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell recently apologized for not listening to Kaepernick and other protesters. He then went so far as to say he would encourage a team to sign Kaepernick.
For some time after he began his protests, Kaepernicks supporters inn the media claimed that his movement was not intended as disrespect to America or the flag. Though, in light of his determined effort to get his sponsor, Nike, to stop distribution of their Betsy Ross Flag sneakers on the 4th of July in 2019.
And, of course, his strident condemnation of America in his tweet today, those claims are not and never have been supportable.

Colin needs professional help. I’m going to play armchair shrink and go out on a limb and guess that all of Colin’s BLM garbage, political posturing, cop-bashing and America hating has essentially nothing to do with racism, American history etc. The true object of his wrath is the white mother who put him up for adoption. All of his supposed anger and rage over race and politics is little more than anger and rage at having been given away by the white woman who birthed him. Change my mind.
We?....hes such a coward.
Ding... Ding... Ding... we have a winner.
Don’t ask about your prize.
Is this the guy who wants a job throwing a ball in the United States of America?
oh shut the hell up. again, he’s half white and the kind people who adopted him are all white.
how’d that virtue signaling work out for ya?
If all whites are responsible for slavery, does that mean all blacks are responsible for black on white crime?
And yet, Kaepernick continues to live in the very country he hates. This is one bitter, messed up dude. Sad he is so unhappy.
Get out of my beloved country, you wealthy traitor. You have the millions needed to live in style in any beloved country of your choice in Africa. Good luck finding one with the wonderful blessings of the USA which made you a spoiled, rich, and hateful thug. How can a country who elected Barack Obama as President, TWICE, be as racist as you claim?
“Says the black supremacist.”
Yes. That fits. Self-absorbed idiot also does.
The true object of his wrath is the white mother who put him up for adoption. All of his supposed anger and rage over race and politics is little more than anger and rage at having been given away by the white woman who birthed him. Change my mind.
You've nailed it.
I’m surprised he can even stand with that chip on his shoulder. It must be like dragging around a boulder.
American Whites, as the majority, have worked for decades to improve the lives of Black Americans. In fact, we’ve tried so hard to help them that it’s often the white applicants who are denied a job or a scholarship due to the color of their skin.
People who make poor decisions when it comes to education and family structure will always have a tougher row to hoe, and that holds true whether you’re black, white, red, yellow, or green.
People of all colors live in the greatest country on earth when it comes to pursuing their own version of the American Dream. But it’s impossible to reach your hand out for the opportunities of the future with a fist clinched in the bitterness and victimhood of the past.
What a racist POS Mr. K is! Bigoted through and through
The list of fallacies for your argument handbook:
Next time we’ll just sit back and let the Nazi’s turn you people into sausage for their dogs.
And we reject your sour grapes racism. You are so oppressed.
This guy just doesn’t see the forest for the trees.
He needs to kneel in China or other communist countries. He is a punk.
Kaepernick the new face of Marxism.
Slavery was never legal in most of the United States, the abolitionist movement was part of the United States' history from the very beginning - something quite unique to our history, in fact - Africans enslaved them first and slave traders purchased them - Africa continued to have widespread slavery of both blacks and whites well after we eliminated it here - the GDP of the non-slave areas in the US was vastly stronger than in slave states so our country was not built on slavery, there were thousands of "free-men" blacks who owned slaves in the South as well, and so on, and so forth. To say otherwise is to be willfully ignorant of history, or lying about it. Slavery is evil - and if you believe it is evil, then you don't pigeon hole this kind of evil to only bothering you if it fits a certain narrative.
